American commandos 'forced to run away' from US-backed Syrian rebels
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/09/16/american-commandos-forced-to-run-away-from-us-backed-syrian-rebe/
 :D

Not surprised, a lot of FSA groups that work in that region hate Kurds. But reports are already saying that US forces are back in, after the group of those that forced them out was disbanded and moved to other parts
Yea. Its FSA Ahrar al-Sharqiya (formed from Nusra-Ahrar members that was centcom vetted) that forced those USA troops out, and it looks like they declared that they have stopped participation in EuphratesShield until US forces leave.

So, it seems that the new Saudi leadership realized that funding Islamist extremist is a bad idea. I was and am skeptical of their reformist credential as far as the economy goes (Few things of substance but the sale of part of Saudi Aramco, and that look a lot like an occasion for massive embezzlement), but if they do stop funding extremist Madrassah abroad and are able to rein in their own clergy, some good might come out of this.

Of course, the alliance between the House of Saud and the Wahabbis is centuries old at this point, and even if the reformist leadership is earnest it is by no mean certain they will succeed.

100% guarantee if the Saudis said "oh btw we 9/11d you" after the towers fell, Riyadh would be glass right now

Only less glass towers and more freedom glass

They're probably still funding islamists tbh

It's not even secret.

In some other Saudi-related news, Houthi troops from Yemen are presenting a serious military threat to the city of Najran, home to 250,000 people and capital of the Najran region. They've apparently met with only light resistance by the Royal Army up until now, and have been capturing lots of their US-supplied military equipment. Cross-border incursions like this happen from time to time, as the article notes, but they seem to be emboldened by their success.

Another US/west coalition fuck up.
They managed accidentally(or maybe not), to bomb saa forces in deir ez-zor  and kill around 60 to 80 and wound more than 100 people. That made it possible for isis to advance in the area and take points in dier azzur thanks to air strikes.  US halted airstrike in deir ez-zor after russia informed strike may have hit regime forces and there is UNSC meeting about it.

Apparently one of the planes doing the bomb run was australian

I hope this one is as "accidential" as Russian\Assad's strikes on hospitals and markets.

Most of those Russian\Assad strikes on those targets  are not accidential, as rebels  constantly use them  from placing weapons or important artillery pieces to headquarters in them or near their locations.  You know its similar when ukrainian military was transporting arms and weapons in hospital vehicles to the front, and morons event recorder that on videos, and later have problems when the same "ambulance" get hit.

Yep, this was a fuck-up. US admitted they fucked this one up, even. They say that as soon as they found out they were hitting the wrong targets (they thought they were bombing IS) they aborted the operation. They apologized to Russia as well for endangering the peace talks with it.

It was that regime enclave deep in IS territory, so the US didn't have spotter on the ground.

The 7 day ceasefire is over, and the moment fighting started again (on more intense level, as even during ceasefire  there was still fighting here and there), the UN aid convoy got hit by russia or saa airstrike near aleppo. More than 10, including the head of syria red cross reported killed in the bombing

It's sad but not especially surprising, given the success of previous ceasefires in Syria. It is kind of worrying that the US and Russia are taking an ever more active part in supporting opposing sides in Syria, though - proxy wars are not fun for anyone.

Russian air defence missiles mean it'd be pretty hard to bomb Assad's house accidentally without accidentally starting WWIII
