Though... There is also the fact that its students are taught that their past was a shameful thing and people are actually criminalized for expressing their stupidity/ignorance expressing illegal viewpoints.  At least Germany on the latter point, in one form or another.
The only things that are illegal here are:
- Denying the Holocaust
- Expressing outright support for the NSDAP regime, for example by using its symbols or singing the Horst-Wessel-Lied (an abomination of musical history, the first stanza of which talks about killing dissenters), but interestingly not the First Stanza (Deutscchland, Deutschland über alles)
- Volksverhetzung: Inciting violence, basically. If you're gonna go out there shouting "Kill all those nigger jews!" we'll lock you up.

There's a whole lot of stupid and reprehensible shit you can say openly and legally.

Not sure if they're part of the coalition or they're just taking things into their own hands and striking out on their own.

If they were part of the coalition, I'm pretty sure they would have been shooting IS, not Assad.

They're not part of the coalition. Any Arab leader that would be part of a military coalition with Israel in it would get ousted and/or murdered in no-time.

Yeah, generally speaking, Israel is so unpopular no one in their right mind would want them in its coalition. Maybe they should announce that they entered a coalition with IS?

Not sure why they seem to be striking out on their own though, seems like a dangerous move on their part.

I'm not saying that Israel shouldn't strike out on their own, just that they are playing in a minefield here, so to speak.

Oh, they've been doing that for a few years, striking chemical stockpile, armament convoy for Hizbullah or stuff about to fall in the hands of terrorist. Assad doesn't react because he do not want to feel the full weight of the IDF.

I'm hearing reports that a jihadist sob has taken a shop in Australia hostage. Looks like things are still progressing.

Marginally more info over the actual australia politics thread, for what that's worth.

Yea Israel can handle itself. They know exactly what they are doing.

Why I don't condone a lot of Israel's actions (most actually) they are effective and they kick some serious ass.

So.. To clarify, your beef with them is that they actually can protect themselves?
Not the fact that they got a free pass to openly subjugate an ethnic population.  To dictate what economic industries they may develop.  To put a limit on the finances they can have.  To prevent any of them from leaving a designated area.  To settle on land that belongs to this population, after herding them into said designated area.
To be able to roll in with tanks, blasting buildings/housing and civilians every few years, with no consequences.

Yea, I gotta agree though, they know what the hell they doing.

I actually wanted to start a new middle-eastern thread, after one of the Palestinian minister died when the IDF clashed with demonstrators a few days ago. The PA has threatened to stop the security cooperation with Israel.

I'm pretty sure that's not what she meant. Actually, the post kind of lacks some context as to what she's responding to.
