Most amusing bugs?
« on: August 08, 2014, 02:02:17 am »

I was browsing the bug tracker when I came across this:

Parents spam cancellation messages when Ghostly Babies.

I find the fact that parents freak out trying to reach the ghost of their baby to be amusing, at least.

Another fun one:  Merchants attacked but unharmed collapse and stop moving.

The merchants were attacked by a wereiguana and, despite nobody taking any damage, found it so traumatic that they collapsed into blubbering heaps forever.  The dwarves, understanding as always, immediately took their wagons apart to make cabinets and stole all their stuff.

This related bug suggests that the dwarves may not be deconstructing the wagons; the wagons themselves may be getting horrified and exploding.

Ambush by harmless noble when reclaiming ruin.  I picture a nobledwarf with a top-hat and monocle popping out from nowhere with an "A-HA!"  And then taking a sip of tea and doing nothing else.

Staying with the "evil noble" theme, Nobles go to live in goblin-controlled former capital, murder fellows - the goblins took over the dwarven capital, and as a result, new nobles apparently decide they are goblins, move to the goblin-occupied capital, and start murdering people.

What other entertaining or amusing bugs have people found on the bugtracker?

I always loved the Dwarves stealing merchant cloth and thread for the hospital one, I always imagined that some motherly dwarf was going to them spouting some story about poor wounded in need of medical supplies and guilt tripping the merchants into giving them the cloth.

The current Baby boom is pretty silly too.

With the latest version I've been checking whether the babies are from legitimate marriages.  When they aren't I've been making up stories in my head about affairs between their mothers and father.  My mayor for example, dreamed of raising a family, and this dream was realized... but apparently he decided to skip the marriage step and go straight to having children... one son and one daughter... by different mothers.

Hilarity usually ensues one way or another when you muck about in the raws without knowing what you're doing.

I can't remember where, but I remember seeing something along the lines of Urist getting stung in the hoof by the parakeet somewhere. I never was able to find an archive of various crimes against nature raws hilarity though.

I'd like to nominate the yak general bug.

Not a bug, precisely, but a stray punch severing a nerve in my adventurer's leg was both amusing and immensely frustrating.

I find the apathetic NPC's amusing:

"Just now, the adventurer killed some guy right in front of us."
"It was inevitable."
"Now he just killed another guy."
"That is sad but not unexpected."

A bunch of goblins attacked my fortress, killed a couple of dwarves, and ran in terror when they encountered a kitten.

The reporter had encountered an "alligator recruit" that was part of a human civilization. The alligator had been a normal wild beast, harassing people and so forth until it took residence within a human sewer. When it did that, it became a member of the human civ. It gets even funnier when reading the notes on the bug report, where one guy had encountered two turkey recruits who where dressed in turkey leather armour :D

I was under siege by some goblins, I was like !@#$ we are all doomed :), they killed a stray baby alpaca and they left.. ( I think they got scared) I imagine the leader of them being like, "THERE, we taught them dwarves a lesson, now lets forget this place ever existed :)"
