[...] Or post your ideas for things that might happen. Or what you always wanted to see... can be completely crazy

Alright,so how about this: As the hermit we can pray to gods and such, all good there, but how about our lonely friend being able to writte about a none-existent deity and spreading his writtings across the land? The more people who'd beleive in said deity the more it whould give said deity power, making it existent! And then our hermit friend whould gain a certain percentage of that deity's power, let's say ~33%,pretty much allowing him to act as the deity for a period of time(every 10-30 days with the same interval),however in return his needs (hunger,thirst,sleep,etc...) whould be even more demanding,I was thinking around 3-5 times, heck maybe even 10,after all using such power whould be sure to consume lots of one's energy.

Also on an unrelated note, how about some of the people in a civilization having a chance of worshiping demons?

Either way, these are just crazy ideias, not even sure if df could handle it all,but hey,if even part of it could be used I'd still be a happy camper :D

Why not update to v40 as an option?

because first there must be a stable dfhack version and the scripts masterwork uses must be updated too, otherwise it will be missing features.

Just as an FYI for Meph, I think I should be able to update most LUA scripts, if I take the time for it.

So when all the rest is OK to go, and you just need a few people to update scripts, I might be able to help.

I have not worked a lot with DFHack scripts (just the soul caste one for now), so i won't be as efficient as people that made the scripts in the first place, but it can always speed things up when time comes.

Seeing goblins get so low a vote makes me want to take a try at them again. Of course, I know how that would probably end.

cleanup, balancing and features is top. This makes sense. I guess with features stability and depth in existing features is meant too.
I think Masterwork is suffering a bit from too many features which are not well tested, too often you wonder if this is a bug or feature ? or you dont even wonder and it is a bug.  When every item is well tracked, calculated and detailed it is not the point to run into much bugs and balance issues. It sound like i reject the whole thing but i still enjoy MW. The Warlocks recently had really too much issues, probably other races are better. DF vanila has less features but has this stability which is needed for the game concept.i mean 34.11 i dont know 40.x because it is interesting only for adventure mode as far i know.

yes and no, it has also a bunch of improvements for the fortress mode. army movement is one of the examples, it happends also in dwarf fortress mode, you get news from your liaison what happends around your / in your region and sometimes i got invaded  by an elven group even without pissing them off. in general it seems to me that the world post-generation has gotten a bit more dynamic. multi-tile trees are also very nice. they add a bit of gameplay, i had a scared fisher climb on top of a tree (running away from undead) and she gave birth to a baby in the tree^^. dwarves in general are also less binary and have more emotions, preferences and in genral more color to their behavior. moral / willpower is also a strong new aspect to the gameplay. enjoying DF2014 thus far immensily.

Is it possible to start underground in the caverns? If so, Drow and some other civs being cavern starts would be way different

I am not sure if it is possible to make them start in the caverns but if someone knows how, let me know.

They will have heavy penalties to any activities on the surface though. This should force them in to the caverns.

I voted for elves (it would be cool to create a totally nature-oriented race..at least that's what I'd like) and cleanups+balance.
Tbh there's so much awesomeness in MDF.34 that I really don't care when the .40 transition will come.
In the last updates there was so much new content (thx also to other modders) I could hardly believe it. And the whole package is so complete and customizable that It's becoming more and more difficult to play df without it :)

I want to play elves so bad it hurts, even since my first DF mood.  But, you've added some seriously cool material.  I almost want automatons and drow more.

I like the plump helmet men civ idea, but with dwarves being aligned with the civilized (and non-readers of history shall read that as "good") faction enslaving them becomes rhetorically unrationalizable...

While low on the poll, the vanilla races of elves and goblins would make sense, because more people are used to them. I always surprised when more foreign features lead. ;)

Actually, rambling on about the plump helmet men gave me an idea...  with all of the vanilla DF content plus what you've added, dwarven life is quite rich.  Perhaps too rich?  Maybe the plump helmet men would do better as a drow pet.  Maybe you could still let other civs acquire them through trade but if fort "alignment" tracking ever becomes A Thing have it tick them toward evil?

If the ideas can be completely crazy - so be it.
I was thinking of changing-faction-with-benefits thing. For example, when you change dwarf faction from civilized to evil, you ally with frost giants, warlocks, etc. What about something more than that? Evil-faction dwarves could count as the so-called chaos dwarves, and they could have access to buildings that are more evil-oriented, like the boneforge, and perhaps some more blood magic things.

Or, if you change humans faction to slavers, you could be more bandit-oriented, with access to raiding, similiar to the orcish one.
