posts a message on the Persona Channel
From the Persona 5 Development Team
Hello everyone! This is Hashino from the Persona team. Suddenly, at the SCE Conference held today, I was able to release an image of the latest version in the Persona series, "Persona 5". It's a work that once again completely turns around the stage from the previous games, a work that depicts the lives of young people currently confronting/resisting life under the backdrop of the big city. Please excuse me slightly, I hope your appetite has been whetted even with just this small taste of the atmosphere.
I was going to announce "Persona 5" at the end of last year, but then it was decided that the deferred PS4 version would be released alongside the PS3 version in 2015. As a result, it became a long wait that is difficult to bear (sorry qq), but I think when we have put the finishing touches on the product that is dear to everyone's heart... [the decision to delay will be justified you motherfuckers.. I think]
As many expected, though presumptuously... we were asked to lead the project following on in the footsteps of "Persona 3" and "Persona 4". Just as before, starting from character designs by Soejima-san and music by Meguro-san, with a staff of bosom buddies who can trust in one another we have been steadily working to complete this [HERCULEAN TASK].
As for me personally, following on from the direction of "Catherine", I had planned to make moves to put off the chance of developing an HD game, but one thing led to another... and that's an old story. In that time, the team wracked their brains ("squeezed their wisdom") and many titles were brought forth and developed, and the support we received for these products went beyond our imagination.
Beyond the world of games, [Persona has] continued to reach people through a TV anime series, a stage play, a live music concert and even an anime-movie adaptation. In fact, I am myself involved in a project outside of games, I produced an animation for Niconico that is currently in development, the dark "Persona Stalker Club" (sweat). I feel very lucky and am extremely grateful to Aniplex for giving me the chance to produce anime and for supporting my projects. I think the support I've received from each fan individually has been special. Thank you so very much.
Furthermore I will take this opportunity to give thanks to the Atlus fans of old who have given their support. As you know, within the current series, from the previous work the the production staff changed the following things from "[Persona] 3", visuals and music were corrected for the deliberately constructed new world-view... at that time is was a pretty risky title, but weighing the pros and cons, from the previous game to the current work, the great number of honorific fans we have been blessed with that make each and every good point fun, we received support. On behalf of the development staff, I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks.
I pray... we can receive happy/satisfied "feedback" from everyone, and together I think we can welcome the finished product, thank you for your continued support!
Persona 5 Director and Producer,
Hashino Katsura
Dude is just thanking a lot of people a lot of times.
2015/2/4 - The
Persona channel is having some "live" streaming events on NicoNico TV. Kuma (Teddy) introduced them at 1pm in a short message that was pretty cute. The "Main Programme" starts at 18:25 on Thurs 5th Japan time. Then at around 9pm there is some mystery programme. I have no idea, but I guess there might be a Persona 5 announcement coming.
The 2 minute Kuma pre-announcement was weird, but whatever they show will be better for having Kuma involved.
2015/2/6 - It was! New promo video with in-game footage on the
Persona 5 site. There is a lot of info in there, most notably I guess was the use of real place names that puts the setting in Tokyo. The style is very
Cat's Eye, IMO, which is great because I love that. Also some references to Persona 2?? (Trying to get into that game right now). There's another message from Hashino where he talks about the themes being a mix of "Juvenile School" and "Picaresque Romance" (which also sounds awesome) and how the party members might have bad manners and find themselves in situations where they are being chased. The graphics look stylized enough that a Vita port might be possible...?? No release date yet.
