Lightningy's Idea/request dump
« on: August 06, 2014, 05:22:24 pm »

[1]this is mainly for adventure mode as sometimes its a bit tedious to get from a to b. maybe have a ship or flying mount that lets you stay in fast travel no matter what biome you are in (excluding sites like dark fortresses) i feel this will make adventure mode a bit more straight forward and make traveling less tedious.

[2]maybe you could have hunters chase after you if you murder a creature from a civ and have city guards to give adventurers a better pincushion than fleeing civilians. also we could have a better smell system where you pick up scents left behind and trace them(thus making location quests a bit easier)

'What is life?', you ask. Fundamentally life is the apotheosis of pointlessness. We live to multiple. But what for? The Endless cycle of carnage pulls hardest on the furthest victim. An inescapable fate; one no one wants but we all desire. The more immoral we become the more ideal we are. A perverse oxymoron. We who live unencumbered but are the most burdened. We fight but at the end it is all for naught, as in life there are no winners; only the undistinguished.

Easily something I would like to see in the game.

Those mountains are absolutely annoying to cross...

There is a suggestions forum, where this would be more likely to be seen and noted.

That said, mounts are definitely already planned, although I don't recall hearing anything about them providing fast travel benefits, so that might be new. Goat cavalry sounds amusing.

Usually, your chief imports are immigrants, beer, and optimism. Your chief exports are misery, limestone violins, forest fires, elf tallow soap, and carved kitten bone.

There's a move topic button at the bottom left corner of the screen.

Flying mounts being able to fast travel over mountains and rivers is an amazing idea (once mounts are added).
They should be rare though.

yeah I feel like it should be difficult (if perhaps not annoying) to cross mountains and the like unless you go to alot of effort to get some kind of flying conveyance

maybe you could kill a dragon and use its head to tame another dragon or maybe all dragon lairs have an egg that becomes available after you kill it. this will make it difficult but not impossible.

Flying mounts are a gimmicky way of getting around. I would rather join a trade caravan heading to my destination as a mercenary guard. Or hire a guide to allow me to travel over the mountains.

And remember that Dwarf Fortress is extremely consistent in it's rules. If flying mounts go into the game, they can't be exclusive to the adventurer.

nice idea being hired and such. it would be cool to hop on a caravan or ship.

i don't mind if its not inclusive to the adventurers but the flying mounts are limited to the number of dragons meaning there is a limited number. it adds to the emergent(?). it would be cool to see an army of gobos riding keas or sumin'.

To be fair, traveling over mountains is supossed to be hard. Crossing the alps to get to rome was a week long endavour in medieval times. The game is right in forcing you to go around them, or making it difficult.

Of course, nowadays we don't have that problem as much because of tunnels. Which means we should have mountainhomes and deepsites building tunnels to hillocks, so it's easier for players to cross that way.

that would be nice. anything that makes getting around in adventure mode less laborious and maze like
