After getting to football practice, Jake decides to go along as normal with the drills and plays. He tries to activate his power on any runs or before being sacked, to test it.
You... don't get hurt, for one, not that it's terribly common in football practice to begin with. And you can sprint flat-out for much longer than you used to be able to without feeling tired at all, which is marginally more useful. You can still be tackled, though, which is a downer. Your improvement, which is barely significant, fails to raise any eyebrows, and you finish practice feeling distinctly underwhelmed.
Maybe you could catch up a little with your friends? You haven't seen them in a couple of days, honestly.
Selina looks at Rita a moment longer before gently patting her shoulder.
"N-no... y-y-your right. I... I don't think I c-can talk about... i-it too much m-more. Um... B-but we can st-stay in touch l-later... r-right?" Selina looks at her parents hopefully, hugging her mother tightly.
"Of course," Rita says. "You, uh, know where to find m- well, you know where to find my friends, so... right." She looks at your father again. "But yes, I think I'll be going now. This is getting a little, uh, awkward. You'll be alright?"
"We'll be alright," your father says. He sounds more resolute than a moment ago. "We'll be alright," he repeats, sounding even more convinced this time.
"Great. So, uh, bye. Keep it together?" Rita says, then leans in toward you. "Bring flowers next time," she whispers before leaving discreetly. As the door shuts, your mother tenses up and becomes slightly more animate.
"... do you want some dinner, dear?" she asks you quietly.
Something occurs to your father, you can tell by his expression, an unvoiced, concerned 'oh'. He glances at the staircase, then at your mother.
Dissapointed that hes suddenly got nothing to entertain himself with steven says his goodbye to the janitor and walks away before giving his dentist a call to see how his dentures are coming along.
They're not coming along yet. Your 15 week waiting period has only just begun, your dentist explains patiently, and you'll get fitted for dentures on week 10, when your mouth's actually healed. You'll then get them in five. She's been over this, Mr. Jerle.
Man, today's shaping up to be boring as shit already.
