((Sure lets go with that.))

Steven decides to head into work regardless, might be worth a laugh if his boss tries firing him.

You decide to drop by the offices, but the place seems to be locked. More so than usual, as your key doesn't seem to fit the building door anymore. Unusual! But is it intriguing?

"I-its me mom... Tr-trust me please... its me." Selina gives a smile, sad but hopeful as she takes a step forward to maybe hug her as well, though letting her mom decide where to go with this as her dad's reaction initially had been... painful to say the least.

"I... but... of course it's you, don't be silly!" your mother stammers out, returning your hug with quite a lot of enthusiasm. "And you're all right!" she laughs with relief, and you feel her tremble a little in your arms. "B-but how?" an uncertain question slips out as she breaks the hug to look at your face once more. Tears are welling up in her eyes, and her smile seems equal parts joyous and confused. "You were..." she starts to say, but seems at a loss for words.

Carrie checks herself over for injuries gained from last night, just to be sure that nothing looks too terrible or hurts too much.

You do look somewhat terrible, or at least you think so after a good 20 subjective minutes of dwelling upon each of your physical faults. You can walk fine, and you don't hurt overmuch. Your burns could be worse, certainly, but they also could be better.

Jake wonders whether going to football practice would actually be worth it, since he doubted his coach was unaware he hadn't shown up for classes.

The better question is, would your coach really mind? You can think of at least two people on the team who are only familiar with school in the most abstract sense, and nobody seems to give a shit about that. Perhaps there might be more to that, of course, but it seems unlikely - those two don't seem like terribly sophisticated sorts at their very best.

It's decided, then. Jake heads towards the school, hoping to make it in time for football practice. He wondered if his power would be useful. Then again, that would be highly unethical, wouldn't it?

Certainly a strange occurance, deciding to investigate Steven looks around for sign's indicating tge business had moved or at least someone to ask about it.

It's decided, then. Jake heads towards the school, hoping to make it in time for football practice. He wondered if his power would be useful. Then again, that would be highly unethical, wouldn't it?

Let's see, you're incapable of tiring while under the effects of your power and don't need to fear injury. For five minutes at a time, followed by a five minute break. That would make for some uneven play, you suspect. As for it being unethical, you guess so. You'd say there ain't no rule about forbidding parahumans to compete, but then you recall that the NFL banned exactly that. Over a decade ago, in fact. But as long as you don't go pro, you don't see how your powers would be extremely apparent, or even extremely relevant.

Besides, you're the quarterback. Isn't passing the ball to someone else in short order about two thirds of your job description? Invulnerability should help a bit if you run with the ball, but you'd still probably get sacked with the best of them if push came to a shove.

Could be a decent test of your powers, this football practice thing.

"I... I w-was kidnapped... a-and t-t-tortured... and replaced with a cl-clone with no thought... b-but I got away. I g-got away, found Rita's s-sister and friends... a-and they g-gave me a safe place f-for a day... a w-way to c-come back and... Rita led me here." She smiles with a sniff, crying happily in joy at holding her mother again.

"You... what?" your mother looks at you with wide eyes. She's shallowly understood what you've just told her. Your father looks less flush with joy and more terrified by the implications.

"... tortured? My god," he mutters. "Then the... other Selina, she's... who exactly? I don't understand."

"It's really messy business, and I'm not sure this is the best time to get into it," Rita offers. "How about you all get some rest, catch your breath, come to terms with the situation, and only then start to think about what you're going to do about the, er, clone?" Both of your parents stare at Rita for a bit. She shrinks back visibly. "Uh, not to offer unsolicited advice. Sorry. Really sorry."

Certainly a strange occurance, deciding to investigate Steven looks around for sign's indicating tge business had moved or at least someone to ask about it.

A quick chat with a nearby less than sober janitor reveals that the call center's gone under quite recently, and that he's out of a job. You ask him why he's currently drunk and in uniform, and he replies that he's lived in there since his divorce, and his key doesn't work anymore. Also, he got a bit of a windfall from his severance package, and he figures booze was as good an investment as any at this point. End of an era and all that.

You ask him when this happened, and he tells you that it was, well, a couple of days after you stopped coming to work for whatever reason. You ask if this happenstance entitles you to a severance package as well. He says probably. Unless you were fired, of course. Were you fired, you ask? The janitor doesn't know.

After getting to football practice, Jake decides to go along as normal with the drills and plays. He tries to activate his power on any runs or before being sacked, to test it.

After getting to football practice, Jake decides to go along as normal with the drills and plays. He tries to activate his power on any runs or before being sacked, to test it.

You... don't get hurt, for one, not that it's terribly common in football practice to begin with. And you can sprint flat-out for much longer than you used to be able to without feeling tired at all, which is marginally more useful. You can still be tackled, though, which is a downer. Your improvement, which is barely significant, fails to raise any eyebrows, and you finish practice feeling distinctly underwhelmed.

Maybe you could catch up a little with your friends? You haven't seen them in a couple of days, honestly.

Selina looks at Rita a moment longer before gently patting her shoulder.

"N-no... y-y-your right. I... I don't think I c-can talk about... i-it too much m-more. Um... B-but we can st-stay in touch l-later... r-right?" Selina looks at her parents hopefully, hugging her mother tightly.

"Of course," Rita says. "You, uh, know where to find m- well, you know where to find my friends, so... right." She looks at your father again. "But yes, I think I'll be going now. This is getting a little, uh, awkward. You'll be alright?"

"We'll be alright," your father says. He sounds more resolute than a moment ago. "We'll be alright," he repeats, sounding even more convinced this time.

"Great. So, uh, bye. Keep it together?" Rita says, then leans in toward you. "Bring flowers next time," she whispers before leaving discreetly. As the door shuts, your mother tenses up and becomes slightly more animate.

"... do you want some dinner, dear?" she asks you quietly.

Something occurs to your father, you can tell by his expression, an unvoiced, concerned 'oh'. He glances at the staircase, then at your mother.

Dissapointed that hes suddenly got nothing to entertain himself with steven says his goodbye to the janitor and walks away before giving his dentist a call to see how his dentures are coming along.

They're not coming along yet. Your 15 week waiting period has only just begun, your dentist explains patiently, and you'll get fitted for dentures on week 10, when your mouth's actually healed. You'll then get them in five. She's been over this, Mr. Jerle.

Man, today's shaping up to be boring as shit already.

Selina gets a tiny bit of pink in her face from Rita's comment, but gives a short wave before looking at mom and nodding. She also followed her father's gaze and stiffened slightly, wary of how to handle this.

"D-did she... get better a-at anything...? M-moving... o-or t-t-talking?" Selina sounds concerned, wondering if the clone would eventually gain use of its body... would she then have a twin sister? And... as much as the other her represented, she didn't resent its existence.

Your mom averts her eyes. "She eats, sometimes. And in the night, she... makes noises."

"She followed me with her gaze... once or twice, maybe," your dad adds very uncomfortably.

"She's... still in your room, dear. Do you want us to... put her somewhere else?" your mom suggests with a pained look in her eyes.

Selina stares at the floor a moment, thinking and conflicted... It takes her a moment to form a decision.

"C-could we set up a... a cot for her? I-in my room? I... I think I c-could maybe... maybe help her." Selina hugs her mom again, clearly wanting to reassure her a bit.

Jake looks around for a few of his friends who hadn't left yet after practice. It looked like Tony, Billy, and Dwayne were still around. Maybe they could go get some pizza or something. They were pretty laid back, and he hadn't seen them for a few days. Maybe Billy had gotten over his habit of making bad or improper jokes during that time.

"C-could we set up a... a cot for her? I-in my room? I... I think I c-could maybe... maybe help her." Selina hugs her mom again, clearly wanting to reassure her a bit.

"We... could," dad says, a little surprised.

"Is it going to be... o-okay with you?" your mom wonders as you give her a hug.

"I'll go set it up," your dad says resolutely, and walks upstairs. You hear a door open and a faint sound. An inarticulate sound made by the voice of a girl. Your voice, you realize. Unrecognizable, really, but you infer the similarity nevertheless. Your mother rests her head on your shoulder and sighs.

Jake looks around for a few of his friends who hadn't left yet after practice. It looked like Tony, Billy, and Dwayne were still around. Maybe they could go get some pizza or something. The gang's all here, sure enough. And Billy's not in the best of moods (his girlfriend broke up with him yesterday, Dwayne covertly relates, and you express silent wonder at how Billy had a girlfriend to begin with, and briefly think about whether you actually have a girlfriend you've completely forgotten about up until this moment, and how angry she'd be if you really did), so you don't have to suffer through his jokes, either. He's still agreeable to pizza, though, just like the others.

Wandering around idly steven decides to head home and grab his gear.

The best method of entertainment is to make some news of your own, and so you retrieve your gear in preparation for some anarchic amusements and imminent property damage. Time to have some fun.
