"Guess i could be there on saturdays."

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

"A better question would be why the PRT are here looking for me, instead of dealing with the parahuman threat going on at the stadium this evening. I saw it collapse due to Dissent, and a lot of people are probably hurt." In spite of the contents of her words, her voice has gained a passive tone. "Just more proof that you idiots can't be trusted."  She steps inside her house if they'll allow her.

"There's a bar over on third i go to sometimes." replies Steven.

"Guess i could be there on saturdays."

"Capital. See you there. Maybe," Lilah says, turning to leave. As the conversation ends, you are only vaguely aware of the violent storm you left behind. For a moment you think it's just a regular thunderstorm. Odd how a little chat alleviates the adrenaline.

"That would be real troubling if giving a rat's ass about your complaints was in my job description," the PRT man tells you as you pass him. Your father stares at you meekly as you go into the entry hallway.

"Told you she'd turn up. We don't have too many kidnappers here in Edwardstown," he says to dear old dad in a smug tone.

"Yeah we do," the dark-skinned woman pops in her head from the next room. "There's one on the loose right now, actually. Don't even know what they look like."

"Pfft, that was just a regular girl-napper. This dude's kid could wipe the floor with any given mustachioed sex offender without breaking a sweat, I bet."

Your dad doesn't seem reassured.

"That still brings up the question as to why you're here in stead of say... the normal police.  My parahumanity should not change my treatment, especially when there are so few of you in this town."

"Well that just happened." Steven speaks to the air whilst idly taking off his mask.

Placing it back in its hiding place he walks home on a circuotus rote to make sure he isnt followed.

"Hell if I know. But it sure beats being at the stadium, lemme tell you," the guy shrugs.

"You do have to keep in mind that we're a bunch of underpaid rookie NGO spooks relocated to bumfuck nowhere without any good equipment," the woman pitches in. "Bothering the marginally innocent is the only thing we can do a lot of the time."

Unmasked and tired, you go home, circling around blocks for a bit to avoid any tails. You get there in the early morning, predictably enough. You're just about to pass out while standing when you hit the bed, enjoying some slightly restless sleep until about the late afternoon.

((I was just waiting for other folks to finish up their stuff and move on to a new day. Otherwise I get confused when we interact at events that are at the same time when some of us are time skipped a few days ahead.))

Rolling out of bed, Jake shuts off his alarm and goes to check the Internet on his phone for any info on the fallout of the stadium incident.

Rolling out of bed late the next day steven checks the news on the stadium whilst drinking an oversized mug of coffee.

"Feh, I suppose functionality is something to strive for." with that she walks to her room barely passing a glance at her father.
"Carrie." it is quiet, but she hears it and ignores him, applying some aloe to her burns before taking a shower and going to sleep.  She has forgotten what day it is and really doesn't care, she was going to sleep late tomorrow.

Internet on your phone? Surely not in 2006. In fact, your hotel room doesn't even have an internet connection. So you guess you'll need to... er... where could you get some internet access, actually? An internet cafe or something?

Rolling out of bed late the next day steven checks the news on the stadium whilst drinking an oversized mug of coffee.

Oversized mugs of coffee, what would you do without them?

Anywho, there's a bit of an uproar, or so the morning newspaper would have it. Freiberg Stadium is completely ruined. Around 40 people are confirmed dead already, and the number is expected to rise with more bodies getting identified. The storm seems like it has stopped on its own, allowing rescue of a bunch of survivors in critically to mildly harmed condition. No sign of Project Ed or any other parahuman on the premises after the ruckus ceased and emergency services were able to step in. The damage seems to have affected a bit of the nearby area as well - a few buildings have collapsed, a bunch of people died in those as well. Apparently the prevailing reaction is "it would be really cool if we had some superheroes to help against this sort of thing" and "what was the PRT doing during all this".

The PRT people, as you notice during your bedtime activities, waste no time in packing up and leaving after it's become abundantly clear you'll probably be alright. You sleep well, confident that even if you had to go to school tomorrow, actually going probably wouldn't be worth it anyway.

Late next morning (or in the early next afternoon) you waken. The sun is shining. The neighborhood is quiet. The weather is perfect for precocious villainy.

Satisfied that the media hasn't caught wind of his identity at least Steven then checks the parahuman message boards to see what "information" is circling there in regards to the events at the stadium.

Outrage, interest, rumors of a greater plot at work, people griping about smaller cities never getting an adequate first response from the PRT, people wondering where Edwardstown is, who Dissent might be. Seems like the Freiberg Disaster, as these people unimaginatively call it, has made at least state news. Maybe national news, though you don't think that's necessarily the case. No witnesses (at least not authentic ones) seem to be available for comment on the message boards, so a whole lot of ballyhoo is getting thrown around there. Some Eddites are there, trying to drum up publicity. An Eddite thread's gotten locked due to poor conduct, even for a parahuman message board.

((I've been away from the forum a few days, sorry.))

Selina feels the tensing of her dad's body and looks up at him, trying also to suppress her power as it seemed to be making her body... oily? She works to turn that off, or absorb it if she can back into before looking up at her dad.

"H-her sister a-and th-their friends... th-they g-g-gave me a pl-place to stay wh-when I got away... l-last night. Sh-she came w-with me to help... h-h-help m-me find a w-way back and... t-to get some food." Selina decided it was probably best not to mention the exact way she was found by them... or the experience in the basement.

Jake goes to brush his teeth before taking a shower and getting dressed. Looks like he would have to go find an Internet cafe. Or maybe a newspaper.

You can't seem to reabsorb it - whatever it is, it is forming on your skin, and doesn't quite permeate flesh. And as you note with panic that it seems to have been steadily secreting across the entire day, it feels like the production of the slime is intensifying.

"It's the truth she speaks," Rita affirms. "Apparently showed up on my friends' doorstep naked and alone in the night. Freaked them right the hell out!"

Your dad looks at you, then at Rita. Then at you again.

"This is... we'd better get in. This is a lot to take in, I'm sorry..." he trails off, breaks the hug and walks inside, turning his back to the two of you.

"This is going pretty well, I think?" your friend smiles.

Ready for the new day, having gotten rid of all that para-vengeance funk, you go and get yourself a newspaper, which tells you that a whole bunch of people have died in the stadium, the authorities are outraged, your dad's probably going to make another speech, the PRT are useless as usual, and the rest is a bunch of rumors. Dissent apparently got away.

Guess your work's cut out for you, then.
