Kyle gets up and stretches.
Today my breakfast will taste great! Man I feel good![/i]
Kyle walks over and opens the door. He forgot to put his shirt back on.

"I... I um... th-th-thirteen... a-and yes... i-it was another girl. Sh-she found out t-two years l-later and threw a j-juice box at me... th-that started the sh-shunning and s-such at school... n-not many friends w-w-were really understanding... o-or kind." She looks sad recalling this, kind of like a kicked puppy with the expression she was giving.
"Eugh. Bet it only got worse from there," Rita frowns. "Was there anyone who did understand, though, or was it more like a pat-on-the-shoulder, 'sucks to be you' kind of sympathy?"
Selina nods slowly at the latter.

"Th-the counselors w-w-were trying to h-help a-a-at first... b-but things n-never got better. E-even moving schools d-didn't help... nothing helped." Small tears were forming at the corners of her eyes, memories clearly plaguing her, as well as at how bad her life had been over all this time without getting any solace or reprieve, except for meeting the group... and the device which had made her feel happy for the first time in a long time, though it was fleeting, and she had avoided such things for fear of addiction for as long as she could remember.

"As fascinating as Grants virtues and story are... I was actually curious about the 'why' he was backing away.
More specifically the 'how' he was expecting you to attack me and the 'why' he felt he had to back away.

The fact he felt he had to back away at all leads me to believe it would be rather impressive..."

"I told him it would be. He hasn't seen it, though," the girl says, slight boredom creeping into her voice. "Not firsthand, anyway. I advised a bigger safe distance than he's keeping, actually. Though with this whole atmosphere in this stadium, who knows? I've heard superpowers work better when you're stressed, right? I can barely even concentrate on anything. Is that why I haven't killed you yet? Who knows?"

She pauses, rubbing her head over your shoulder a little.

"I like how your jacket feels. It's nice, in that sort of sleazy lamp-lit trailer kind of way. I could really get used to standing here like this."

Kyle gets up and stretches.
Today my breakfast will taste great! Man I feel good!
Kyle walks over and opens the door. He forgot to put his shirt back on.

And thus you expose your no doubt impressive ("not embarrassing at least" is your preferred term) physique to Jones, who doesn't take any sort of note of it aside from a slight glance at your chest. She's wearing a different band t-shirt today, and just like yesterday, it's a band you've definitely never heard of. This might not be good news. She's got a cup of coffee in her hand, which smells perfectly serviceable and not much more than that.

"Right, you're up. If you want breakfast, you're going to have to find it on your own. We've got a microwave in the staff room, just so you know."

Selina nods slowly at the latter.

((Oh, no trouble at all. I'm more than glad enough you're still here.))

"Yeah, had the feeling this business wasn't going to have a happy ending. Hm. My story's pretty laughable in comparison, all things considered," Rita observes.

"Um... d-did you... want to tell it...?" Selina seems to want to change the subject a bit, wiping the small tears away and trying to not cry in such a public place.

"How much would you like to hear it, though, that's the important question," Rita says, obtaining a napkin to play with as her hands start to get a little restless on the table. "I... think I might sound like a bit of a poser if I relate it to you."

"I promise I w-won't judge, o-or call you a poser." She states with a sniff, using a napkin to blow her nose a bit as she looked at Rita with what she hoped was a calming look.

"I promise I w-won't judge, o-or call you a poser." She states with a sniff, using a napkin to blow her nose a bit as she looked at Rita with what she hoped was a calming look.

"No, no, I know you won't," she says. "That's not the problem. What I mean is..." she pauses, frowning awkwardly, "... ah, screw it. I'll tell you anyway."

"Okay, so where do I begin? Haven't gone to school since I was fourteen. Lynn says I didn't miss much, she dropped out a little later. I got in with a certain crowd, and there was a certain guy there, James. I was fifteen, he was sixteen, and we had a bit of a fling. Lasted almost a year, actually, and it was only in the last two months or so that it dawned on me that he may have been really, really gay all along. A lot of signs, if you take my meaning. So I asked him about that after getting a little drunk and working up some courage, and he kind of came out to me, and I was like 'oh, well, that went more strangely than expected'. Then he shacked up with Lloyd. You probably remember Lloyd from the house, right? I kind of hooked them up, since I knew Lloyd was super gay, too, and I told James, and afterward the two of them were kind of like 'thanks' but also found it a bit weird. That was what, six months ago? Seven? I forget exactly. I was pretty heartbroken at the time, really, since I thought me and James were really serious up to that point, and we also had some pretty amazing... uh, chemistry, you know, although it occurs to me it may have been a little one-sided," Rita blushes slightly. That entire stream of words has come out of her mouth in about 1.5x speed, and she barely pauses for a moment to take a deeper breath. "From there, I've just been, er, figuring things out. Thinking about stuff, mostly, and, uh, perusing the media. I mean, I hadn't been putting much thought into the whole 'what do I like, who do I like' thing at all, and I really do think there might be something there. So far I'm... kind of undecided, really. Been thinking of girls a bit lately. Works for, uh, alone-time, I've discovered. But then, a whole lot of things do as far as I can tell, so I'm pretty confused on all that. My mind's kind of a mess in that regard. I've thought about a lot of changes in the last couple months, come to think of it. There's just a time in your life when everything starts to change, don't you think?"

Carrie laughs a little at the idea of her having a purse.  "No thanks, I'll pass for now."  She had been maintaining a mental contact with the stadium.  "Hey, uh they appear to be buddying up a little too closely over there, I'm considering either bolting or asking how your machine works so that at least explosion man will be incapacitated."

"Have you seen him, anyway?"

"Oh, totally. He's inside. Kind of worried. His life's spiraling out of control. Missing his wife. A bit se-"

You snap back into reality, Officer Church reappearing by the window. She spots you outside immediately and waves.

Kyle nods and takes a sip of his coffee before starting to move to go to the kitchen.

You take a quick sip of the cup of coffee Jones has.

"Dude," she says indignantly as you sip. "That's my coffee. Get your own," she says as you look at her and blink. She withdraws the cup and takes a sip herself to reassert ownership. You shrug and amble over to the staff room, finding it to be on the same floor as the storage room, which you happen to discover after a short walk around the first and second floors. Joyce doesn't seem to be in at all, and the library's pretty dark right now. Must be pretty early in the morning. Conversely, it must not have been very late at all when you fell asleep. What was it, about six PM, maybe seven?

Anyway, you find the staff room, turn on the light, and notice that there's a minifridge, a microwave, a coffee machine (with a pot of coffee still in it), a water cooler and a couple slightly dirty glasses and coffee mugs here. The minifridge has some bread and butter, a jar of pickles, an inexpensive bottle of gin, tonic water, a few lemons, some oranges as well for good measure, and a single banana left of a larger collection. There is breakfast to be had here, definitely.

"My machines make your brain fire in unusual ways. Usually I use them to excite people. This is the first time I've tried the opposite effect on a larger scale. It's working well. I think," Ilo comments, keeping his eyes on the exploding man and the girl with the broken arm.

"Took those cops out for sure. And it does something to parahumans as well, which is double-awesome," One Eighty says.

"But don't bolt. We might figure out something that can keep your interest," Ilo nods. "It is a shame we got off on the wrong foot."

"But really, you had it coming, you have to admit. I mean, seriously, basic respect for your fellow cape, girl! It'll take you further than you'd expect!" One Eighty starts to lecture.

"Yes, yes, nobody cares. Let us put the past of as recently as fifteen minutes ago behind us," Ilo dismisses her.

"Agreed, and by how it works I meant which keys on your podium thing would be best to press to incapacitate those people."

((If the podium is damaged or destroyed ignore this post.))

The podium is slightly banged up, you notice, but still looks hooked up. It probably works, you think.

"Oh. Any key would work. Any combination of keys would work even better. I don't remember what I hooked half of them up to exactly. Using piano keys may be classy, but it's not conducive to easy memorization. Better to have labeled keys, that's my point," Ilo says.

"So you were just improvising back there, huh?" One Eighty asks, rather nonplussed by this news.

"I was. I find it best when I do not fully comprehend the consequences of my actions. The results start to border on interesting then," Ilo explains matter-of-factly.

"Welp, can't disagree with you there. Mad science is best science," One Eighty shrugs.

Clearly running multiple missions at the same time is a terrible idea.  The epic battle to see which team can cock it up worse has escalated again.

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

"If you could keep them turned away from me, that would be nice." Carrie addresses One-Eighty prior to walking to the outskirts of the people on the field's vision.  She then proceeds to sprint as fast as she can, stretching her power to its limits, to the podium and slamming as many keys as she can.
