"She's... shy and outgoing? You mean, like, an extrovert that's forced into introversion? Wait, no. I don't think that's how it works..."

Rita has a considerably puzzled look for a moment before she makes a soundless "oh" and nods.

"Well, uh, anyway. How does the new girl teach the shy one to trust her, then?"

Carrie uses her power to vibrate, by going though herself multiple times, and loosen the dirt around her. If her three seconds run out before the dirt is loose enough that she can safely power through it, she watches for the instamt her body catches up and does it again. Once the dirt is loose enough that no injury should be possible, she uses her power to quickly dig her way out. Also, her eyes and mouth are closed for this and she limits her breathing.

"Well, there's... kind of a reason for that I can think of. It might be because it's, well, kind of a manipulative thing to do, you know. And manipulation is pretty hard if you've skipped that part of your general education. I mean, I know I have, and I can never get people to do what I want them to."

"Well, true enough, but I've had people experience too, y'know? Post-educational, mostly. School was... ugh. It was very ugh, in fact. No better word exists to describe it. But anywho, the new girl. She doesn't really strike me as the kind type, you know?"

Steven watches Carrie getting flipped into the ground with a satisfied smirk, arrogance is a right that must be earned after all.

Turning his attention away from the actions of one eighty Steven inspects the branch carrie dropped, is it phasing through the floor or blurrimg any laws of reality anymore?

And Larry kinda gets blueballed in all this; just left with a raging bone spear and no where to put it.

That's... not quite how your power works, you discover. Your movements after partially sinking back in are still limited by external factors - in this case, the dirt. It's like you rehearse the movement at first, and then your body executes it at double speed immediately afterward. In this case you, currently buried headfirst in the dirt along with your shoulders, arms forward and also below ground, do manage to wiggle out admirably well - your arms come free almost immediately, considerably earlier in the executed movement than in the intended one. Your body, now imbalanced in the originally intended movement, jerks to and fro, freeing your shoulders far earlier as well. These are the good news.

The bad news are, your powers do not let you adjust the rehearsed movement during its execution, a weakness that you become poignantly aware of when the preprogrammed wiggling manages to convey you into a state where you are currently have put most of your weight on your neck, and a little on your shoulders as well. It is only when your body catches up with you that you become aware that something has gone terribly wrong, namely that a very particular something in your spine appears to have gotten mildly traumatized. Only mildly, you see, because rather than kill you, it seems to have merely taken away the use of your legs. In the next second or so after your body stops its instruction, you seem to be free of the ground entirely, coming to a rest on the ground, taking a breath as you start to feel a little silly for having tried this, even if your method was as perfectly sound as it could be in a situation such as this.

"Ah, see, that was mild super speed right there. Told you, dude," One Eighty says with a measure of fascination. "Looks like she's getting it in bursts, not as a constant thing, though!"

"I'll take your word for it," Ilo replies, entirely unimpressed from the sound of it.

"Anyway, that's two capes already. Wonder if there's more?" One Eighty continues, tilting her head.

"Hazing a dumb kid not enough for you?" Ilo asks with but the merest hint of a questioning inflection.

"Shyeah, like hell it is. I wanna see something a little more impressive than this little cretin bitch and that jerkoff still on the bleachers, y'know? These people are supposed to be the hope of our generation!"

As it happens, it isn't. It's just split in half with a piece of it about the thickness of a hand missing in what you assume is its center of mass.

As it also happens, that stick is still on the ground next to the girl, who seems to have freed herself of the ground via the application of some kind of parahuman power, as One Eighty and Ilo, who are also still in plain view, observe. One Eighty, you notice, takes a few steps back nonchalantly as the girl wiggles free, even as she continues to speak with Ilo about how it'd be kind of cool if there were more interesting capes here tonight.

"R-really? ...H-how so?" Selina is a little nervous now, not sure what criticism was coming.

"Honestly, it sounds kinda cult-leaderish how she looks at the shy girl, don't you think? She sees her as someone she can mold to her liking when she gains her trust, then use her isolation and loneliness to strip her of any independence. An intelligent introvert in the early stages of social development is, like, the golden mark for people like this. I mean, just imagine how the breakup's going to be when school ends a year or two later," Rita says, shrugging periodically in an effort to not seem aggressive.

Taking mental note of One eighties comment Steven turns and lets his gaze wander over the crowd, how many of the people that slipped into the stadium could be fellow parahumans? Is anyone observing the proceedings between one eighty and carrie in a way that stands out from the rest of the crowd?.

Tempted as he is to respond to one eighties quip about there being no interesting parahumans here steven decides to keep his identity safe for the moment, perhaps he could find a way to discreetly get her attention and lure her away from prying eyes.

((Everyone but you is currently in a drugged-out pile as far as I knew ))
Carrie "looks " at Ilo for any features that could mark her in the civilian world, to include her build. Same with 180 but he doesn't have a mask so its not quite as important, but she does make sure to remember them. She gives a light dusting off, "Well, this was actually fun, but my parents are probably worried about me, so I suppose I'll be seeing you two around." with that she pulls her own 180 and heads for the exit, using her powers to correct if she senses herself being moved.  Ilo would be easy, but 180 would require preparation.

Well, there is... one guy. Kind of shady looking, with a rather large mustache, possibly in his forties, definitely doesn't belong here as far as you can tell. Dresses a little like an S&M cowboy, too.

You immediately notice something - the slight case of your legs not moving appears to transfer into your out of body experiences as well. You can still float, though, so it's not an actual problem, but still.

You're fairly certain Ilo doesn't wear a mask largely because he doesn't actually have a civilian life. You don't quite recall his real name at the moment, but it's out there in the Internet, that much you're sure of. One Eighty, however, is pretty tall (about six feet if your hand measurements are correct) and seems like she works out quite a bit, looking quite impressive in build when compared to the slightly scrawny Ilo. Other than that, though, she keeps herself well-covered, with it being highly difficult to see anything inside her helmet (though you make out that she appears to be white, with possibly green eyes and rather pronounced eyebrows, and that her nose may or may not have been broken some time in the past judging by the crookedness of the bridge. A lot of this is partly guesswork, obviously, but it's the best you think you can get presently.

Also, when you say you want to head out, do you mean on your hands or via some other method? In addition, it must look a bit funny to dust yourself off while you're still on the ground.

"See, I knew you'd be entertained!" One Eighty laughs as you consider what to do next. "I live to serve, you know."

Suspicious of the self styled cowboy steven engages him in a glaring contest and tries to mentally determine what his possible purpose here could be. Is he paying attention to the exchange between carrie and one eighty? Does he show any signs of intimidation or surprise by the recent displays of power? Does he have a scheming expression?

Selina frowns, feeling a little sad now.

"O-oh… I… I guess y-your right… th-though I always thought the n-new girl would… would tr-try and help her b-be her." Selina seems worried now… was that the kind of story she had written? She'd have to read them again to make sure but...
