Jake goes to casually loiter, leaning against a wall and pulling out his phone to pretend to mess with it until the van passes him. Once the van gets a bit past him, he'll follow it at a casual pace while pretending to play a game on his phone. He keeps his attention split between his phone, the van, and the ground in front of him so he doesn't trip over anything.
Regardless of your actual motives, the people in the van - Eddites, obviously - don't seem to give you even a moment of consideration. You guess that's good, and keep up your current charade, difficult as it may be to do three things at once, even if one of them is largely automatic.
The van just keeps on going until it reaches the stadium, which makes the officers go into full alert, naturally, given that the main event seems like it's about to begin. A few officers approach closer, evaluating the van from all sides after it comes to a ponderous stop about 20 meters away from the entrance. Out step a couple of... young adults, you would say. At least they look like it, anyway. One's a young woman, rather gangly and with a shaved head, the other's a relatively tiny young man with quite the large beard. The police immediately start to shout warnings at them, but the two don't really appear to be listening, instead carrying on with inane, emotionless conversation about something you can't quite hear.
Carrie decides to keep primary tabs on all involved in the altercation and the guy doing the casing. Meanwhile she begins to actually think about this, with the police here, there is a good chance, even with no other powers in the area, of the Ed kids to get caught. If she were doing this, the event here would most certainly be a diversionary tactic. Something is most certainly going to happen here, but it isn't the main event for the villains.
How many police are nearby?
Nearby, you'd say about ten to fifteen. In total, probably a lot more. You'd peg the total number at about... uh, thirty? That's how many you've spotted thus far.
At any rate, soon a van arrives. Out steps a bearded dwarf and a tall lady, both obviously Eddites. The police waste no time in beginning to harangue them, but they don't seem to mind at all.
Inside the van you notice there's a rather large set of cardboard boxes, but your power does not allow you to delve any deeper into them.
Kyle sighs and dries off. He's going to bed. Fucking super stuffs and eldritch stuff. Assholes.
You dry off fully and decide to go to bed. After pondering for a moment whether or not to leave the nightlight on, you decide to not be a wuss and just turn it off, then lie down and take whatever comes next like a man, should anything at all come next. You'd obviously prefer it didn't, since you need your beauty sleep and all, but nevertheless you feel that you'll probably not be so lucky.
You are proven entirely correct mere minutes later, as when you start to slip into peaceful sleep you feel something cold and left press upon your left eyelid, then making a slight slurping noise as it plants a very crude kiss, creating a feeling of suction that momentarily makes you fear that your eyeball may pop out, then withdraws.
"Police useless against parahumans, no surprise there" Steven thinks to himself "but why the fuck is this asshole cop laughing about it?"
Considering the teens story it would seem that the teen should be more determined to get inside the stadium then he is letting on, deciding to test that theory Steven casually begins moving in the same direction as the teen and waits to see if he makes another move to enter the stadium.
Maybe he's just crazy, you guess.
Anywho, you follow the troublemaker guy out for a block, then narrowly avoid him when he comes back along with a van containing Eddites - two Eddites, as you find out momentarily when they jump out of the van in front of the stadium, police beginning to shout at them practically immediately. It's a dwarf and an awkward lady, dressed garishly and entirely lacking in any form of passion as far as you can tell.
After a couple minutes, Selina manages to get a bit of a hold of herself.
"S-sorry... i-its just... hard..." Selina coughs a couple times to try and clear her throat, sniffling as she got control of her emotions a tiny bit.
"It's okay," Rita says, not coming off as particularly empathetic, but rather as trying to be understanding in spite of this. "I mean, you did say you went through a lot. I... can't imagine what you must have felt like when you were... you know. Didn't think that stuff like that could happen around here."
