When I'm Mafia Night 1 in a game that might have a spy I always go "[Person not in Mafia], who are we killing?" If there's a spy, they usually take the bait and vote that person the next day.

Sometimes I say the name of someone on my team just to throw off a spy who's onto that strategy. Only one person, though.

Such as "Persus, please kill TDS", followed by "Oops, is there a spy? ".

One of my teammates in one game played as a very bad jester, and then when they lynched him over it day 2 and he flipped mafia, his last will had the names and roles of all his team-mates. 0_0 He then proceeds to rage in deadchat about how it was his plan to make mafia lose because he hates being mafia and how we won anyways.

Spy can still be effective if played right. I managed to find out who the mafia were in one game because I saw which people were never targeted. The town still lost, though, because there was a werewolf.

Speaking of spies, one just won the game for town by finding us out. Beat me and my AFK crew... grr.

And then there was the jester who kept claiming investigator and his list of reads... even AFTER the game was over and he DIDN'T win.
Called me a jerk, too.

Edit: LOL, another game, I was consig, Troll Transporter switched me with the mafia's victim, who the disguiser was targeting. So it was an even better funny thing that we won and the disguiser kept my name alive the entire time.

The community there isnt the best. They tend to be pretty lewd.

Also, one game I was a disguiser, and one of the mafia decided to tell the town who all the mafia was, thus making a really easy game, impossible. Stupid troll.

Yeah, throwing the game is a reportable offense, according to their website.

I think everyone reported him, but he said he had been doing that for several months, and the worst that happened was he was banned for a day, so they need to fix that.... But, when they arent throwing games and being rude, its a fun game!

Oftentimes, getting a screenshot of that game and posting it in one of the forum threads is necessary in order to actually get someone banned. The Development team seems pretty small, and the game is pretty popular, so I bet they get a lot of reports.

I just played a custom game, with 5 mafia, 9 spies and a veteran. It was crazy with everyone whispering to eachother to try to spytest everyone else.  The mafia played it splendidly though, making everyone think that he was a spy, so when he won, everyone was shocked at finding out that he was mafia. Probably the best game I've played....

It's amazing how clueless some towns can be. Earlier, I had a janitor win where I didn't clean the will of someone who got disguised as. It took two days to get that person another disguise, and the town managed to not vote for him either time.

I find that many players of ToS lack the logic portion of their brain, and also lack the ability to read old wills. And if they're writing theirs (usually with rap lyrics) when a will is shown, God help them.

It's not the game's fault, it's just that it's too widely available. 90% of players are crap, I guess, and because the game's a lot faster than forum mafia it holds the interest of the 90% much better.

50 games, wouldn't you believe, is not the difference between competent and incompetent- but the few trolls get weeded out quick.
