The Paratria League

This is the Paratria region. It is located in the far south of the (stereotypical, albeit) Pokémon world. You see that red town in the northeast? You're starting there, in Amatac Town.

The Paratria region is home to many Pokémon and Trainers, as always. There are 11 towns and cities in the region (towns with Gyms are marked with an asterik): Amatac Town (red), Guala City* (green), Seloy City* (blue), Hilche Town* (white), Ruma City* (yellow), the sprawling metropolis of Camachu City* (the one with a Poké Ball in it), Port Coria* (brown), Tamba City* (pink), Tunsi Island (purple), Hualla Island* (orange), and the green-starred Paratria Pokémon League at Jauja City.

The bay in the center is called Pisuca Bay. That brown blotch north of Camachu is the Tilco Desert. The mountain range to the south is the Huaco Mountain range. The forest covering Route 2 is known as Chimbi Forest. The forest north of Route 6 is the Taurca Woods.

You four live in Amatac Town, a small town in the northeast of the Paratria Region. The local professor, Professor Acacia, has offered you all the chance for a great adventure: he has obtained four Pokédexes, and, as is typical, has selected a few locals, you four, to head out into the world, to catch Pokémon, meet people, and have exciting new experiences.

You are all waiting just outside of Professor Acacia's lab. He has been out running some errands at a nearby Poké Mart, but he should be back shortly. (Read: characterization time.)

Kyle of course is juggling as he leans against a wall. Satori is sitting on his head humming something. They seem to not be preparing to do some thugery.

Bjorn sits against the wall, keeping Grond from digging up metal around the lab.

"How're you guys holding up? I don't want any of you to pass out from excitement when the Professor shows up."

"Pretty good. Been thinking about what I wanna do when we get out there. Ya know?"

"I... I don't know either." Kira spluttered, as she twisted Birch's Pokeball in her hand nervously. The second she wasn't paying attention, she knew that Birch was going to try to break out. Last time she let him loose in town he tried to pick a fight with her neighbors Meowth. Letting him roam free now was decidedly a bad thing, at least until they were out in the wild. She didn't want to deal with that now.

Kira on her part had other things on her mind. Last night her mother decided to use up all of the Oran and Pecha berries Kira had prepared for the trip on a small berry cake. The gesture was sweet, but Kira had hoped to hang onto those berries for a little longer. Then this morning, Dad's capture styler was off the mantle. It was a sign that Kira was more than familiar with. Dad was on the job again. Where and why, Kira had no idea. She could only assume he was out doing something important but...

"I guess we could sightsee or... Something. I don't know." Kira suggested in resignation.

"I, for one, would like to get some more pokemon on my side. As much as I love Shub, he really can't hold his own in a fight."[/gray]
Shub, previously flying through walls and spooking lab aids, gives Jonathan the closest thing to a dirty look that a Gastly can give.
"Well, it's true!"

Kyle looks at the pokeball that Kira has with mild interest.
"Never seen you with that thing out before. What is it?"

Bjorn half grins from his rather quiet demeanor.

"Let me ask Jonathan; have you even battled once? I know you watch when I demonstrate to some of the others on how to catch pokemon, but I don't know if you ever did one firsthand.

We'll figure something out, you two. Maybe we'll figure it out when we get going; after all, I'm glad I got you guys to accompany me as I try the challenge, in case something happens. I may not like mindless battling, but its something trainers can work towards, and anything can happen along the way."

Kira gives Jonathan a dirty look. They weren't going to get along easily.

"You don't really need another Pokémon, do you?"

Then she took a long look at Kyle. He was curious. Too curious. Her eyes narrowed. Strike two for Team Sausage.

"You do mean the ball right? This 'thing' you are talking about?" Kira snarled. The Pokeball shook a little bit in response. It was evident that Birch wasn't happy either. Through the vaguely transparent top of the ball she could see the Starly was just itching to get out. Kira merely adjusted her fingers awkwardly. Where was the Professor...

Kyle stops juggling and pockets his balls.

On occasion, when the rare rattata starts attempting to menace my house.

Kira gives Jonathan a dirty look. They weren't going to get along easily.

"You don't really need another Pokémon, do you?"

"I plan on cataloging and studying various ghost-types. Many of them live in dangerous abandoned buildings, places where people and pokemon have died. Given that ending up among their numbers isn't anything I want to rush, then while not strictly necessary, there's no way in the name of Arceus that I'm not getting more pokemon for my protection. While pascifism is a noble ideal, were I to follow it now I'd end up a Yamask."
