Being the daughter of a Pokémon hunter, Anette had little interaction with most of the others, as for most of her life she was away from home - and, as such, did not have the chance to gain the typical level of education expected of a girl her age. Instead, she spent most of her childhood learning to stalk and take down Pokémon in tandem with her father, Pierce, and his Umbreon - as well as gaining knowledge in slightly more practical areas, such as growing a small variety of berries and Apricorns, turning said Apricorns into Pokéballs to assist in capturing her prey, as well as building shelters and fires.
While she was aware that the morality of what they were doing was questionable, this lifestyle was how they put food on the table - both literally, as some Pokémon make for good eating, and figuratively - plenty of people are willing to pay others to capture Pokémon for them. Though both dangerous and physically demanding, Anette thoroughly enjoyed her hobby, and felt a sense of accomplishment with each successful capture. The plethora of scars covering the light skin inherited from her father's side of the family remind her of good times, and she looks on them fondly - except, of course, for one.
Following a sale slightly under two years ago, both herself and her father were attacked by a particularly fervent and misguided group against the enslavement of Pokémon known as PETP, People for the Ethical Treatment of Pokémon. While the encounter was quickly ended by the authorities - the fools attacked Anette and her father inside of a city, what else did they expect? - and the attackers imprisoned, Anette had lost her left eye, and an injury to her father's spine left him paralyzed from the waist down. The two ended up returning to her deceased mother's home in Amatac Town, as the bitter cold of her father's homeland, combined with it's general harshness, was deemed unsuitable for the two in their condition after the attack. Despite the cold being a reason for moving here, Pierce keeps the AC turned as far down as it will go, and Anette, having not had the pleasure of growing up where he came from, typically wears an oversized black sweater to keep warm. While she had her brown hair cut short to keep it out of her eyes, with the lack of major action in her life she has been letting it grow to her shoulders - she is, of course, blind in her left eye.
Despite her father's inability to stand preventing the two from continuing to hunt Pokémon, she never lost the love for it that she grew up with, and is going to leave her father behind with the neighbors and his Umbreon to find a Pokémon of her own after this meeting with Professor Acacia, and once again return to the hunt.
Ignore the joke I put in there.
Am I still waitlisted? If I am I may change the end of it.
