Since we're dealing with money, it would be helpful for you to list prices and rewards. Otherwise, you might lose a lot of money if I' not sure how you want to exactly do it.

Betting pools, if done right, are always profitable for the person running them. The point is to try to ensure that you have equal payouts riding on both sides, giving better odds to less probable or popular outcomes, and also charging a small fee with each bet that you get to keep no matter what.

It might not be easy to pull this scheme off with a small audience that is likely clearly biased towards one outcome...

Betting pools are not always profitable, in the case where someone calls you out for bullshitting, and beats the hell out of you and takes all your money. Of course, as you said this is not "done right", but is essentially how these type of things function in the setting.

I suppose I could just simplify it with rolls.
