((Oops, sorry. Had to figure out what to do next, and then forgot all about actually doing it. :x))

Dust turned slowly to Ganna, a sadistic smirk on her lips.

"No one can save you from me now, pet," she purred, walking slowly towards the terrified girl.

When Jago tries again, counter x2. If he doesn't, just keep terrifying Ganna.

All

Dust: Attack if attacked x2
Everchild: Move About, Take Weapon
Fenrik: Attack, Attack
Kazren (AI): -
Arlia (AI): Attack, Attack

[3-3=1] Ganna shakes her head a fraction, trying to shut Dust's words out or to deny them, but her body is frozen with fear. Dust stalks towards her, seemingly uncaring of the raider leader behind her. [4+1=5] Jago spits and curses as he swings the heavy, long sword around for another swing that [Dodge:1+1=2] catches Dust in the back before she can turn or dodge. She feels her own weapon slam against her armor and [Damage:5-4=1] press against its flexible layers without much more than a scratch. [3+1=4] Jago keeps up the attack, [Dodge:2+1=3] but this time the hit barely glances [Damage:Negated].

[1+1=2] Surprised by the succesful hits, Dust takes her time to start her counter-strike. [1+1=2] The two combatants circle eachother.

The Everchild moves with machine-borne grace into the shallow pool to pick up the fallen Dustmen blade. Her sensors take in the shortsword; sharp blade, crude but sturdy make, dirty grey cloth wrapped around the hilt. She gives it a few test swings, scanning for new targets. There isn't any real threat from these rabble, but the two rifle-armed Unbegot seem like the best targets for the moment.

The shamaness [4] continues her mostly one-sided firefight with the cowering Unbegot across the pool. [Dodges (+1):3/3] Both shots hit, smacking in past the small rock and [Damages:2+2=4] ending up inside her shoudler, blood spilling. [1] Unsure if she got her target, she does not fire again.

Out of the oasis, Fenrik lines up another shot. [1] He takes his time a little too much, making sure his aim is perfect. [3] The mag-bow shudders in his grasp as it releases another bolt. [Dodge:1+1=2][Damage:3+4=7] The settler spins around from the force of the shot, staggering around searching for somewhere to hide from her invisible foe. [Cover:5-1=4] Fenrik curses as she correctly deduces the direction of attack and finds some sparse cover to cower behind. The others still have a clear shot at her.

Jago: Attack, Attack
Ganna: A- attack!
O. Outcast: Change Weapon
Un. Warrior: Attack Arlia
S. Unbegot: Find Cover

The older tribal warrior steps beside Jago, drawing a heavy knife with the clear intention of helping his chief to finish Dust, even as unlikely as their victory is. Arlia's opponent [4-1=3] fires off a shot at her, [Dodge:1+2=3] the reliable rifle hitting the shamaness' leg. [Damage:4/2-4=0] Her barriers ripple and absorb the force of the hit with no trouble.

There is sparse cover from rocks and vegetation.

"Are there any tasks she finds particularly loathesome?" Dust asked the pair facing her in singsong mockery, moving in with her bare hands.

Muttering to himself Fenrik continues to sight in on the Unbegot,

"Looks like your day turned bad, not everyone gets so unlucky as to have an assassin of the Dark God pissed off at them. Hey Scarab come on out now, I have a bit of a job for you ..."

Attack the Settler Unbegot again, and send the Pain Scarab to inject the poison into the Older Tribal Outcast.

Edit: I JUST HAD AN IDEA
((I JUST REAPPEARED))

Kazen shook his head at Dust's antics, stepping towards Ganna. "I'm sorry, child, you chose your path. You faced your fears, and you chose to die rather than run. Find comfort in that."

Grab Ganna and snap her neck before Dust can do worse. Make it quick. (Both actions)

((Is there any way I can delay doing damage to Ganna until it stacks to 10? I kinda hate the idea of shit beating the poor girl for the next round or two.))

((Woah, prodigal son and all that. Now I'm glad Kazren didn't just explode out of divine wrath.

...nice action to return with. I expected this to end with Ganna taken captive, to be released or re-enslaved, but she'll avoid that fate now, hurray? And yeah, you'll likely be able to kill her fast.))

All

The battle rages on. Dust keeps playing with the raider leader and the ex-slave girl, unaware that Kazren has had enough of passive observation. As she moves in to attack Jago again, Kazren approaches Ganna with steady, unhesitating steps.

[4+1=5] Jago's equally distracted as Dust lunges at him, [Dodge:5] diverting her first attack with a clumsy backstep and swing. [4+1=5] She has [Dodge:6] no better luck as she goes at it again, Jago keeping her at a distance. [2+1=3] Despite his wounds, the Unbegot drives on for another attack which [Dodge:5+1=6] Dust avoids with laughable ease. The two combatants face off, looking for an opening. [5][Dodge:1] Focused on Jago, Dust is caught unawares by the other Unbegot joining them as he charges inside the warrior woman's defense and slams his knife against her armor. [Damage:3*2=6-4=2] It bends inwards but holds, turning away the force of the strike.

[5][Dodge:1][3][Dodge:3] They're interrupted by a scream, which ends up being the last sound Ganna ever makes. [Damage:4*2=8][Damage:4/2=2] Ignoring her struggles, Kazren clamps down on her throat with his bio-form arm and applies pressure and movement with the precision of a surgeon. Ganna feels the end coming and struggles in vain for escape, clinging onto life with all her strength. There is a moment of enormous pain - and the girl drops to the ground, dead, never to fear again.

Jago roars. [3+1=4] He leaps past Dust, eyes wide and blasting his throat out. [Dodge:6+1=6] The Hybrasi weapon swings right and left in furious arcs, barely staying in Jago's grasp, but it comes nowhere near hitting Kazren. The Preserver backs away a step, facing Jago.

'She did nothing to you!' Jago roars, the most sound the champions have heard of him yet. He breathes hard, staggering in place. The beast rider seems to be looking somewhere very far away as he continues in a soft mutter; 'She didn't have to die... you didn't need to kill her... Kyo, Kyo, what have they done? It was my crime, not hers! Exile me, outcast me, kill me, but spare her... spare her...'

Jago collapses to his knees. He lets the greatsword fall into the dust, shaking hands reaching around for the smaller knife at his side.

***

Ignorant of all this, the rest of the champions fight on. [6] The Everchild's towering form moves with machine-borne agility across the distance to the woman with the rifle, the dead tribal's blade in her hand. The woman has [Dodge:3] only a moment to react, so focused on the shamaness across the pool. She throws herself away, leaving the blade to score only a skin-deep gash [Damage:3/2=2] With all her wounds, it's enough to send her sprawling. [5][Dodge:6] She still has enough strength to roll clear of the Everchild's downwards swing, shouting out in terror of the Everchild's outlandish machine-form.

[1] Terrified, she has no thought for firing back at her opponent. She crawls away, making enough space between them for [3] Arlia to open fire without fear of hitting her ally. [Dodges (+0):5/5] Both of her revolver shots miss, smacking up dust around the Unbegot woman. [3][Dodges (+0):6/5] Another few shots miss as spectacularily.

Further away, Fenrik has an idea. He draws up the crawling shape of the Scarab and gives it some simple instructions. The little machine scurries off surprisingly obediently, intent on reaching the knife-wielding tribal fighting Dust. It will take it some time to cross the distance, but there is little chance of anyone spotting it in the battle. [5] Fenrik takes aim at his target again, [Dodge:2+2=4] scoring a glancing shot on the settler's rocky cover. [Damage:3+4/2=4] Parts of the cover are chipped away, leaving her more vulnerable but still behind the shelter.

[1] The woman, still unable to deduce who's firing at her, simply cowers behind her shield.

Oh, Kazren, you were so lucky to get all 10 damage. With just a point less, you'd have made a horribly botched, painful job of the killing and left her writhing at your feet.

I removed the list of player actions, it just looks ugly. If you preferred having them, or if there are any suggestions on formatting, please do say. I don't like the look of the combat turns so much. I'm considering maybe bolding character names the first time they act so it's clearer when it's your part, at least.

Kazren looked down at the broken remnants of Jago, bio-steel mask expressionless. "She made her choice, and I could have done little to keep her safe if we had captured her. I serve Justice, not mercy. Find comfort that I too will face justice for what I have done." The Warbreaker stepped forward, closing the remaining distance to Jago. "By blood we are both begun, and by blood we shall be undone. Let it end, and find her again in the next life."

In the event that Jago is already in the process of killing himself, help him die quickly. If not, help him die quickly anyway.

Dust's eyes widened in fury, but only for a moment. Sweeping up her sword, she planted herself on and around Jago like a protective mother bird.

"No," she said firmly, but still with that hint of derangement from earlier. "He has to live to get vengeance, doesn't he? To live with his failures?"

She pinched his cheek, but that arm remained ready to snatch the knife from his hands, while her other tensed with the weight of her weapon. She knew both of them were serious, and might need to be stopped with force. Extreme force, in the Warbreaker's case.

Save Jago from any who would (physically) harm him.

Kazren paused, not because of any particular meaning in what Dust said, but by the peculiar lack of it. "Child, that was complete nonsense. Stand aside."
