useing a severed leg as a crutch
« on: July 30, 2014, 11:07:28 pm »

I propose that this be implemented

Pick up my leg and use it as a crutch. I continue east.

A severed leg would not be as effective as a real crutch and you would get some funny looks walking though town and frighten small children this is obviously more of an adventure mode thing as I doupt dwarves would enjoy it very much but it might be viable in an emergency

Realistically, it would be much too short unless you hunched over uncomfortably and honestly probably not offer that much support anyways.
However, I'm all for using severed limbs in creative ways.

Yes it wouldn't offer much support but I don't think it's to short you wouldn't hold it like a proper crutch you would hold it more like a walking stick

Well, considering it's a dead leg, it'd just fold when you put any pressure on it.

HM that is a good point especially after it's rotted a little but are leg bones really that weak I'll have to do some research I may have Overestimated how effective it would be maybe just make it a crappy emergency crutch to give you a chance to escape a fight after your legs are chopped of im no good at balance but how does 1/3 the effectiveness of a real crutch and after travelling 100 squares it degrades to 1/5 then at 500 squares 1/15 then become completely useless at 5000 squares sound

Woah there, settle down.
You'd probably have a better time using a random stick on the ground, or hell, your sword or hammer or whatever as a crutch.

Oh you guys are to concerned with practicality hm I wonder if it might be possible to intimidate people by useing a leg crutch but im clearly in the minority of people who think this is a good Idea  so I will have to settle for normal crutches

You could probably manage it during rigor mortis (from about 4 to 24 hours after death.)

Not to mention legs with exoskeletons or composed of minerals. I'm sure a GCS leg crutch is viable.

Everyone probably did, it kind of goes without saying though.
Also, ignoring everything else, where did the leg get severed at?
You're already going to have a hard enough time getting a stable/good enough grip on it as is,
But if it's at the kneecaps... Good luck hopping around hunched over.

Bumber's idea might work, given the probable length of their legs.

Be cool if some interaction with a tree generated a makeshift crutch.

Hm good question I guess if it was at the top which is where I immediately assume because that's where my grandfathers was it's plenty long enough or maybe my legs are just much longer then my body

Maybe you do have a crutch, but it's sized for kobolds (quite possibly the very kobold who knifed off your leg), so you use the crutch as a splint so you can use the leg as a crutch.

That's a solution to the knee problem.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
