We weren't the one humming, but we'd expected the arcanist wouldn't trust some unknown person from 'far away'. So Outpost Fortress imitated the sound of the plasma cannon and we picked up on it to shove the two into working together faster.
Also the alteri wasn't told because the surprise would work better.

Cycle 63

After questioning the Cloaked Alteri (which boils down to 'I'd be nicer if he bothered trying to be anything but offended my fake self exists'), you leave that alone for a bit and focus on sciencing the new crystal, only to be interrupted by the energy shifting towards the town. Outpost Proxian mentions a bunch of passing arcanists holding a large blue plate covered in smashed wood and smoking glyphs. You quickly head over to it to listen in to the largest building in the interest of possibly finding another war council, perhaps.

Quote
Fancy-sounding Proxian: Stop! I can't speak to all of you at once, who is the temporary leader?
Temp. Arcanist leader: Me. And the plate got a message back from the nearby major town; we will have a new Master Arcanist today, since we cannot find the body of the old one to determine how he died or who did it. We need a pile of material to swap with him.
Fancy proxian: What, are we not important enough for a better search team? Fine, fine. What about your report of an oddity in the under-echo or over-echo or whatever it was you mentioned yesterday?
Arcanist: It wasn't flowing correctly, the energy near the cavern. Part of it was misdirected and interfered with the rest of the field. We need to go back down to it and make sure the crystal hasn't been cracked by the pressure or something.

...Hmm. You ignore the remainder of the meeting and return to where you were going to science. They noticed what you did pretty quickly, and if you were to hypothesize about how they were so certain this cavern existed along with the native crystal, they must have a spell used to locate either caverns or this particular kind of crystal, and build over it to harness its power for spellcasting. They also have a way to get down here supposedly, or intend to go down in short order. There were no connecting tunnels between here (here being near the crystal, not your core) and the surface cave. They also needed materials to swap with a new Master, implying a teleportation spell. That part in itself would solve your problems nicely, actually. While proper wireless transfer will be more efficient, teleporting charged energy vault crystals down to the planned seperated fortress would suffice for staying powered.
And underground, especially this far down, there will be no one to hear them shout for help, and no need for a stealthy, long-winded and alteri-requiring plan of acquiring magic when in theory, you can use their own fields concept against them to trap them down here.

You prepare a complex list of modifications and adjustments to be made to the correct amount of the crystal, and store the data in one of the nearby refined crystals. It might affect its functioning temporarily, but in the full scale of things that minor drop in irrelevant. You construct the last missing Forgitar half-crystal around yourself to complete the armor, and go looking through what you can of the Alterin fort's network for geological data. Either these caverns are not very common, but reliably either had more of the crystal or had it put there by the Proxians after mining it elsewhere.

After failing at trying to figure out how to word the update I had for after the suggestions for a couple days, I had this idea instead. (The energy is rather simple since the spreadsheet takes care of most of it, the map depends on the energy use which wasn't really worth doing this turn, but if I can't think of something good to describe the actions besides 'you did the things and got more numbers, and this happened for those suggestions too', it'd be a rather boring post I'd expect.) So should we do anything in the meantime while we see if they teleport or if they dig down, or just hold onto the energy? Theres quite a bit on hand.

As for the geology, we found this:

Prox II (as opposed to I, III, or IV, which respectively are molten, dead, or extremely frozen) is a rather unimpressive medium-sized planet for a system that has all of the above extremes. It does however have life on it, which would make it interesting if it wasn't the most distant planet in the history of the Imperium and in most budgets' opinion, a waste of fuel to send a research group to. Initial probe scans showed expansive cavern systems underneath all groups of unknown surface structures and only rarely showed caverns elsewhere, but due to the significant depth of the caverns for the most part and lack of connections to the surface, considered it unusually consistent but not qualified as a cave world. Significant ocean presence, twin megacontinents.

Use their own field theory to trap them there.

Cycle 64
As it turns out, they did teleport. But instead of going straight down, they went on top of the crystal itself. You trigger the building of the chaining field effect as they stare at the direction of the sound, and speak up as soon as it completes. However, just because this is clearly a trap to you doesn't mean you can't trick them for a bit to confirm it will work.

Hello there, arcanists. What brings you to the crystalline domain?
One moment please, Speaker for Crystals. This...could be a bigger problem than expected. The field corrupted more when we came down, to the point where its getting difficult to tell the power from the background glow. You recognize that voice as the one who 'led' the meeting earlier.
It is? Perfect. You drop the tone used for Emissary of Crystal while saying that last part.

As we were saying, what brings you to the new territory of the Crystalline? Is it this different, interesting source of energy inside the changed rock that feels unstable? Or did you find out something you shouldn't have? One of them fidgets at the last part, possibly the one who found the Master Arcanist?
Crystalline is not a name! Have you gone mad from the crystal degradation, Speaker? the lead arcanist continues. Several others berate him for using Speaker as a title instead of Emissary, and an argument ensues. Sometime later you speak up, after it seems like they've finished.
We have not. We are perfectly stable, as you can see from the lovely shade of blue in the main structure. And you are going nowhere until you answer us some questions.
You cannot keep us here Emissary! This is against the laws of arcanic talks! Explain yourself this instant and give us a proper name! Several of the more hasty proxians hurl magic missiles at you, only for them to dissipate harmlessly against the significant energy reserves you have on hand. One tries to quickly teleport out and ends up vomiting energetic goo for quite some time, but otherwise is undamaged.
We are Crystalline. We are not Emissary of Crystal or the Terra Arcanum. You will answer questions, not us, and we have enough energy on hand to dissolve a portion of Outsider materials. It is highly unlikely you could survive against us down here, cut off as you seem to be by the field conflict. Does this solve your legal crisis? You doubt shoving this much energy into a hunk of forgite actually would dissolve it, more likely it'd just fracture and get ruined by the excessive overkill involved. But its an impressive-sounding statement nonetheless. The arcanists respond with an...interesting spell, to say the least. Or at least one that took you longer to translate than it did to figure out the intended effect that got warped from your screwing with the field crystal.

"Planar Summoning Cloud of Destabilized Cascade" did not, as they probably hoped, destabilize you, or cause a dangerous cascade of destabilized power. What it did do was summon a solid cloud...thing in the shape of a plate. You aren't quite sure what it does, but its very flat and very much refuses to stick to a single color until you look at it directly.
...Are you done? It would be nice if we could just ask you the questions we want without all the complaining. There is is a great deal of muttering, then a single nod. A very, very slow nod.

How could we learn your magic?
By trapping us, I suppose. How did you mess with the arcane fields around the native crystal?
By accident. More recently, on purpose. How do you feel about the fortress, besides them being Outsiders?
It will be ours.

A number of other questions are asked between you and them ending in varying degrees of mathematician's answer, before it eventually circles around to this one:

What can you offer us besides magic?
Many things.
Most of which can be done more effectively by technology we obtain from the Alteri or rebuild ourselves, likely.
No, our way is better. No Outsider can do better than the Proxian Way, for it consumes all outsiders and takes their enhancements as its own.
It will soon be obsoleted if others refuse to work for us.
You say that like you actually can defeat us. You are extensive yes, we can see you through the roof of the cave. But you are trapped underground.
What becomes underground when we are the ground? All that is stopping us is a tendency for stealth and observation.

There is a long pause after that. You appear to either effectively impressed them with that last statement, or announced the apocalypse by the looks they are having. You ponder whether to get them working on teaching immediately or wait for them to speak up again before starting while the diplomatic crystalline near the meeting point has been to to the best of its ability getting the two antagonists (who were not informed of your new, simpler plan in case it fails) to be talking in shorter arguments, even shorter sentences, and occasional nods.

I continue to be bad at being distracted easily by things when I'm trying to do something more consistently. :-\
Also I was dumb and updated the status last time but didn't actually paste it into the last post. We had [current amount minus energy per cycle] last turn, which was still under current storage capacity.

Ask them politely for magic. If yes, start research. If no, threaten. If yes start research. If no torture. Restart process.

Look for the bottom of the cavern with refined clusters, then put storage clusters there until we are no longer over capacity.

Nah, no torture.

Here's what I propose.

They cannot get food.

Until they agree to research/help us with learning magic and whatnot, they don't eat. And they only eat/drink if they do, in fact, help us.

Additionally, I'd like us to work on a Seed Crystal. Something that we can drop/implant/stab/you get the idea onto something living and mobile, that can then begin taking control of it, rerouting the 'energy' of it's neural system to be wired into it, and into us, connected wirelessly. We don't NEED it, and it might not work, but it's an alternative to non-typical Crystalline forms to get a mobile body.

Additionally, let's use excess energy to upgrade things we have and create more storage. And infiltrate the Alterin even more.

Also, begin exploring and looking at that Green crystal/stone stuff. And, finally, I wanna see if we can look into ways to regulate and grab the reactor. Not yet, but once we can it'll give us a better reason to Coup the Alterin's than simply 'because we can'.

Seriously though, we need to Increase our energy stores and spend that energy. Also make more research-line crystals, to speed up research, and see if we can increase research speed by allocating energy income directly to them.

Honestly, research isn't exactly well fleshed out, but its helpful at least. Mainly its an indicator of 'where are we aiming at getting next/what would be a nice thing to get on the side' when I look at the status, but otherwise its just sort of...there, and I forget to update it a lot. (also speaking of updates, I was working on one.)

Blue tiberium spreads slower and is due to matured green.

Red is equal to blue but is a lot more nasty and is due to matured blue.

Red was only in Tiberium Sun if I recall. In one level, and it was unminable.
