Possible to drop a fully formed forgite-reinforced outpost down into the cavern and have it report back wirelessly?
We could drop it, and a couple of diplomatic crystalline with their communications parts could be substituted for the missing wireless crystals, but that would eventually run out of power since its not connected to us. It would require adding some energy storage to outpost. How big an outpost were you thinking?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

The idea was to drop something small and disposable but forgite is anything but. Unsure if a regular crystal would survive the fall though, and we have no idea what its falling into.

It seems a better alternative to extending a long thin tendril down, with the structural issues that might entail.

Low-Q would undoubtably shatter on impact at this distance, while refined crystal and the assorted crystals based off it are still fairly unlikely to survive without major reinforcement. (1 scale-2 is currently about 10 blocks normally, and the distance from the visible bottom to the crystal directly above it is already 20 blocks)
If you wanted disposable, we could make a storage field section, fill it, drop it off the bottom of the palantir and see how far away the explosion sound is when it crashes into something.

As a side note, from a quick ctrl+f of evernote it appears the most reinforced non-forgite is the diplomatic crystalline, not the arms crystal. Huh.

Heh, well that would certainly be interesting but didn't we detect something high energy down there? I'm not sure BOMBING it is the best option for investigation.

The energy we'd picked up is the unstable rock/crystal mix over to the left of the explored area. Not to say we might blow up more by doing that, but its certainly the cheapest option I can think of for disposable scouting :) If theres some of it directly below us it would explode regardless of what we dropped on it from this height. (the green stuff, not our crystal)

o/
So the empty space goes down? and down and down and down? Could climb down the walls, I suppose. cover them in angry space plants crystal, etc.

Also, that unstable crystal is on the right, not the left. :V

Begin sciencing it immediately.

Can we make an amorphous gel of crystal material? It should be able to survive the fall without excessive damage (no crystal structure to damage) though presumably, it will splatter. Then we just drop a few crystals after it, which can semi-safely land in it, and use the amorphous gel as a basematerial for the construction of the outpost.

Hum... can an outpost form simple crystal without being connected? Could drop an outpost in the gel with orders to set up a small amount of production and structure then relay more complex orders via the diplomacy type structures.

An overseer-level one could (assuming it was given general instructions beforehand, and the relevant crystal schematics), the issue is the energy wouldn't get produced with our current workings without either a connection to the core to get hit with the pulse that happens every turn, or an attempt to stretch out that extended pulse we had before that partly went out into the cavern instead of reflecting back to us immediately. Thats why the outpost with the diplomat communicator would run out eventually.
Also we certainly could try melting a crystal for a gel material, thoguh we'd need to make one first, I'm assuming the palantir is staying in its spot.

Did the arcanist have an obvious apprentice?

Not that I remember. We met him (he did mention he had apprentices of somekind, but they weren't around during the conversation), then him with councilmembers, then him with other non-apprentice arcanists.

Convert 2 refined crystals under the proxian village to farseers to see the tops of all of the proxian buildings.

We might want to adress the whole why we have the chained captured in crystal thing. We killed the arcanist before he could tell anyone of our treachery but we shouldn't leave it alone. I would suggest either he lost control of the chained and we had to contain it or alternatively he was going to turn it on the village for power before he used it on the outsider and we had to kill him then contain the chained whichever seems more believable based on what little we know about their magic and our surveillance on their social structure.

Serious question, do we actually care what they think? Their most powerful weapon seems to be the Chained and we have proven ability to disable and capture them.

I'm not convinced the surface dwellers haven't become largely irrelevant at this point.

We care about what the Alteri think, because they're a potential threat that almost certainly have off-world communications, while we have no idea where the Prime Crystal is if we needed emergency support.

Short of a major crusade from a lot of Proxians though, they are irrelevant, honestly; Its difficult to siege the underground when theres no way into the caves, and if they dig us up the village will collapse under them. Though successfully using their magic would be a nice bonus.

As for the chained, most of the proxians assume the Master Arcanist is waiting for a signal from the generals or something, since no one really knows where he went and the one who does is covering up his death while they search for what shot him.
