Oh... You said "if possible". They're still bleeding out and from what I understand taking 10 would take 10 rounds worth of time. So... Yeah. I just figured I'd stick with the "if possible" to give them a chance.

Granted I might be misinterpreting what Taking 10 does.
Yeah, no, not how Taking 10 works. For comparison:

Taking 20 is basically "Well, if I roll the dice enough times I'll eventually hit 20, and if there's no penalty for failure, there's nothing to stop me doing that. Call it 20 rolls on average, so 20 attempts, so basically you take twenty times as long and automatically roll 20." For Single Standard Action rolls, this takes 2 minutes. This is mostly a time-saving measure, since sitting around while someone makes 20 rolls every time they come to a lock they can't open or the like would get really old really fast.

Taking 10 is more of a "I am going to do this task to standard performance levels, so I don't risk rolling low but I don't have the possibility of rolling high." It's basically a representation of a skill that you have sufficient training at that you won't likely be botching it every few times you do it, which the randomness of the dice would otherwise cause. It does not take any longer, though it does require your concentration on the task at hand.
You can use it where there are risks to failure, though if you don't know the DC of whatever you're doing, doing so may not be a good idea.
Also note that if you don't have sufficient ranks+modifiers in the skill to represent that "sufficient training," ie DC-10, you have 0 chance of success, and will have to roll it, assuming Taking 10 didn't screw things up for you; If Freda had Taken 10, for instance, she'd have auto-failed, and that would have taken a round, and thus potentially another point of HP.
Also also, "Distractions or threats (such as combat) make it impossible for a character to take 10." Exactly what constitutes a "distraction or threat" is somewhat up to the DM, though do note that any skill except UMD can theoretically let you Take 10, so something like "in conversation" or "high up" probably shouldn't count.

Checks Without Rolls.
Looks like if the skill would normally take 1 round, a take ten takes 1 round; the difference being anything distracting or combative prevents you from being able to.
Take 20 on the other hand, takes more time.

So, yeah, it was misinterpreted, but it still worked out the same.

PPE: Harbringer got it.

Well, not quite; I failed at healing the Dwarf, though thankfully Freda managed it and hopefully that happened quickly enough he didn't lose any HP between the two.

Ah, I see. Well I... Guess that makes sense.

Anyways, please bold actions out of combat in the future. Just a thought I had, I don't want to misinterpret flavor and get someone killed.

Would I be correct in assuming the dog is Snuffles?

Ryurist sits up.

"Ugh... thank you."

He cringes slightly from the pain of almost having died.
Actually, he's still at, at most, -1, so he's also unconcious for at least an hour (or until healed). Yeah. This is going to be FUN!

Yes. You are correct about Snuffles. I'm going to go ahead and rule that people who are stable are able to talk but not move on their own. Just so that everyone can contribute a little.

In that case, he's not that small, being Medium.

This bonfire he speaks of; how much do we know about bonfires IC?
I'm just reading up on them on the DS wiki, as well as on solid and liquid humanities; and I suspect that we're lacking something to take full advantage of the bonfire.
Specifically something we cannot get hunting those already hollowed.

You have all heard of Bearers' Bonfires before though you have never come across or used ones. They aren't really talked about in normal society though from what you gather they are beneficial to those who are Bearers.

Right. So it wouldn't be odd for me to be asking this guy how the fires work. Thanks!

((Wait a second.
Quote from: SRD
One hour after a tended, dying character becomes stable, roll d%. He has a 10% chance of becoming conscious, at which point he is disabled (as if he had 0 hit points). If he remains unconscious, he has the same chance to revive and become disabled every hour. Even if unconscious, he recovers hit points naturally. He is back to normal when his hit points rise to 1 or higher.
))
Should be in the OOC thread, moved the quote here for you.

Alright, so we're assuming there was about an hour or two before we woke up, and we all rolled under 10.
Either that, or we're still considered unconscious, but being undead has it's benefits.

Hey guys. Just thought I'd point out that I'm tired of people not remembering that the OOC thread exists. Don't post OOC comments in the IC thread. I like to keep a cohesive story line going in them. Further ignoring of this rule might result in bad consequences. Very bad ones... Just remember that I've warned you before. Anyways, Tawa:

I'm going to go ahead and rule that people who are stable are able to talk but not move on their own. Just so that everyone can contribute a little.

So yes, you can talk. You cannot take move or standard actions. This is to prevent people from having to spend weeks away from the game or whatever.

I find it interesting that NOBODY knows anyone else's name. Rather interesting if you ask me.
