Currency Name
« on: July 27, 2014, 02:17:33 pm »

I know they're usually referred to as "Gold pieces" and "silver pieces", etc. But in the status section it lists your created wealth with an undefined currency. And when trading it just lists the value of each item. BUT IN WHAT CURRENCY?

I've been saying Dorfbucks.
I was wondering what your opinion of this name/title is.

Yea or Nay?
WHAT SAY YOU?!

And if he has a knife (though he prefers sharp rocks) he'll remove their ears, nose and tongue but only after kicking their teeth out.

This game is extremely open-ended as we all know, and since the game does not list what the currency is called, it's up to the player to decide what the currency is called.

That said, I've always used dorfbucks myself, so I voted yes on the poll.

As far as I care, you could call it 'Gil', 'Shells', 'Gems', 'Gold Pressed Latinum' or 'Kitchen Sinks'.

I'd consider the sinks most Dorfy, but the name might confuse anyone but yourself.

I use credits no mater what game I play.  It's just easier that way.

They're called ☼. I prefer that, because it's easier to type. And pronounce :P

I prefer "Urists".
A Urist is already used as a unit of measure so that might be confusing.

Dwarfbucks. I don't think we use the "dorf" spelling anywhere.

I guess sooner or later, currency names will be procedurally generated. Real-life currencies are often named after the material they were made of (e.g. Gulden, the former dutch currency was named after gold coins) or units of weight measure (e.g. the pound), but a lot of currencies had different etymologies (the german Wikipedia has an article about etymologies of currencies, but I could not find a similar page on the english Wikipedia).
Since there is already a somewhat elaborate naming system, I suppose this will eventually be used for currencies as well. Until then, I would prefer dwarfbucks to dorfbucks.

I guess it should be more reserved for weight/temperature but i usually think of it as "200 urists worth of plump helmets"

I call it Urists myself. Everything is Urists.  :P But I'm open to calling them Shinies.
