If I may make some criticism, the bridge of the nose should be open (i.e. not drawn) and the nose should be of the same color as the rest of the skin.
I think he's trying to mimick an alchoholic's nose, which, you have to admit, all dwarfs probly have.

Posting to watch, and to offer any help needed on the DFHack side.

We got a basic thing going in stonesense, so I'd be able to help you get this going as a nice visualizer.

I'm back, a little busy this days.

Here is small updated, this time - experimental beards:

and gif of growing =D
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I really like this, nice work!
The scar above the eye would probably be over his eyebrow too since the scartissue would prevent hair from growing there.

I don't think you should worry too much about getting this INTO the game but rather that it would be a nice external tool to have for generating portraits.

I'd like to second Maltavius' praise.  Well, except for that first portrait.  A naked chin?  Without any NSFW warnings? ;)

Yes, just generating the image should be enough for one of the UI wizards to incorporate the artwork into the game somehow.  Each of these would require some work by the UI developer in question.

Down-converting the image to 128x128 would let Stonesense use them live in the game.
Legends Viewer and the Text Will Be Text plugin could scoop up the passport photo and put it alongside a Dwarf's description.
Dwarf Therapist could include some dock-able doodad to show the portrait of the selected Dwarf as well.

My question is, however, when are these portraits generated and when are they updated?  Any utilities consuming the images will just use whatever is handed to them, but repeatedly re-generating the pictures could be a hit to FPS as the game serves deals with queries for descriptions.

I think a dwarf therapist style reading-out would suffice. It reads the dwarves on startup of the utility, or when the player manually clicks on the "read out" button. These graphics are mostly used for succession forts I would assume, together with screenshots. Its nothing that needs to be updated every few ticks.

Amen to that, I think refreshing when it refreshes the data in therapist (i.e. commit changes etc.) is more than often enough for almost any purposes. :))

Also there are people under 18 people on this forum its good to be considerate and spoiler any

Otherwise I could so some shitty ones :P

I agree with this idea, too, and i think, that now you Andrew, can ask the authors of new LNP add your utilite.
P.S can you give as pack of another test portraits?(of random dwarf)

PTW, this looks gorgeous and integration with other utilities would be very cool.

This thread is going too slow. Therefore I'm announcing here that I'm going to start working on a program that will display this, and other dwarf info.

Hehehe.
Just a warning, though, I can't be held responsible if what I make ends up morphing into another therapist.

That's not the intent, mind, but it might get some sort of functionality in that direction.
