Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

A communal animal?

Mind you not all animals can be "tamed", several of them lack the intelligence to (a lot of snakes for example).

Devils are ridiculously violent. Never been "tamed" as far as I know.
Any communal animal can be domesticated with the right training
"Communal" does make more sense. Of course, then we're going to have to define "communal" and "domesticate".

I think it is better to end the argument by saying that many animals that are not domesticated or typically domesticated... can be.

Lions, Tigers, and Bears included.

nope actually a few people have successfully trained bears to be live-ins. Like this one. Never attacked anyone after being released, just ate their food.

Oh see I totally misread your comment :P

And yeah, tigers are totally just giant fluffy cats. Plus they're the largest cat that has retained the ability to purr. Seriously. It sounds amazing.

Domestication requires generations of breeding to make them genetically disposed to humans, typically by preventing the animals from ever really leaving the baby/juvenile state of mind (to put it generally, I'm not an animal neurologist). It has some interesting side effects, like how adult dogs bark (as though they were a wolf pup) whereas wolves stop barking as they mature. That's the primary difference between taming and domesticating in terms of behavior, is that domestication is permanent and applies to all stages of life whereas tamed animals are prone to losing their friendliness towards humans in adulthood. You can raise a tiger cub from birth and it'll be a fine pet for quite a while, but when it reaches adulthood the danger becomes very pronounced. Most of the people who keep bears or big cats or the like as pets end up keeping them in an enclosure later in their life, where conditions are as bad or worse than a zoo. Exotic animals like that are also often poached (shoot the mother and take the young), and it'd be better to not provide a market for that kind of thing.

Ohh I know that.

For every person who raised lets say... a Gorilla as a pet successfully, there are probably 5 others who failed miserably for one reason or another.

That is NOT the kind of chances you want to make legal or marketable.
