I quite clearly see the word "snail" before puppy in nenjin's post. Also the critter in the picture has a shell and eyestalks, which very few puppies have.

The puppy in question is actually inside the snail. It is assumed the puppy is still adorable despite being eaten.

Real talk though, the more I look at the original picture the more I wonder if it was photoshopped. I'm not an expert - at all - but the hand the snail is resting on looks quite large in proportion to the body that the hand belongs to.

Nah, it's just a wide-angle lens then. And those snails are in fact that size, and have shells that look like that. google giant african snails.

They're one of the more unusual pets in the exotics trade really. Harmless if you don't taste like food and the worst they can do is rasp some of your skin off when you do taste like food. There's some cute videos of people feeding them stuff like custard with spoons on YouTube.

Tempted to get one myself, but maintaining the humidity is a bit of a hassle with such a creature, so if I have to put up with high humidity I'd rather have a gecko or frog.

Can't be kept in groups anywhere when not being bred because they're hermaphrodites and make thousands of babies at once. The risk of destroying the local ecosystem with escapees is very real.
