Potential triggers all over the place.  How long have people had powers? Months, years, decades?

Well, as far as I've written, this is the Wormverse, Earth Bet, the distant past known as 2006, and we're focusing on a city that's not exactly harboring people from the A-list, by and large.

So I've got the rest of the lore and all I can say is that Mr. Baldman is magical. Gonna try to make an abridged version, but there's a lot of info.

Why not just post what we should know?

So is the second trigger event I PMed adequate, or should I think of another one?

That parahuman creation process made me realize I had given nowhere near enough info on my trigger event for you guys to really give me powers.

But, now I have to try and think of either a vague enough situation that it could be interpreted a number of different ways so it can be a surprise and still have interesting or versatile powers(I'm the sort that likes to make plans far ahead and think of unconventional uses for my resources, as a player. Thus, being a Purity, a Trainwreck, or a Battery doesn't really appeal to me, but if that's what I get I'll be okay; they're still superpowers, and thus incredibly awesome), while being specific enough not to be just as useless as before, and make it fit in with my character's background and personality.

*sigh*

Remember that something somewhat out of character wouldn't be unusual as people tend to do that in high stress situations.

Remember that something somewhat out of character wouldn't be unusual as people tend to do that in high stress situations.

I mean more the circumstances leading up to the trigger event; they tend to be the climax of an ordeal, rather than an out-of-nowhere trauma. Typically people who undergo one are already certain to be dysfunctional in some fashion, whereas I may have shot myself in the foot by making Serra too normal.

Plus, I would rather argue that people tend to act more like their true self in high stress situations, without their normal securities and inhibitions to control their behavior.

Sidenote: I already kinda have an idea for what I want her codename to be, I don't know if it fits perfectly with a hero/villain(with a rogue, certainly), and it might not fit her powers, but if not I'll have to change it. I think it would interesting if he codename was Que Sera. As in 'que sera, sera', a spanish saying meaning 'what will be, will be'. It's the same in other romance languages as well, and I thought it was latin, at first. I might change it instead to Quod or a variation thereof(it means 'that which is' in latin), if the first is too similar to her real name to work as an effective codename.

So we just need to do lore dump and have me PM my trigger event to start, I think?

Probably.

Also, do we really need code names? I mean, especially for villains to have an easy name for yourself would be a problem.

There are some who don't have the two lives separate, or can't. Bitch is one, Lady Photon is another. So are people like Crawler and Newter. Some people cease to really have a normal life, as I think Hookwolf ended up doing, more or less. But the vast majority don't want to get hauled in when they're taking a shit. And of course, there's family to worry about.

On the other hand, a bunch of the players seemed dead set on having their characters be in the second category of cape.

If you haven't read Worm, I can explain the three categories pretty easily:
-The people who are basically in it for shits and giggles, having fun with super-powers but not really actually fucked up in the head or anything. About 90% of capes fall into this, hero or no. It's all basically a ridiculous game, after all, all this costume nonsense and whatnot.
-The people who are really dangerous, who you wouldn't want to mess with whether or not they had their powers, who get sent to the Birdcage(super-prison no one's ever escaped before suspended inside of a mountain) as soon as they're caught, rather than any 3 strikes nonsense. Heroes in this category are more like the people who are truly set on their mission and improving the world in some way, or tend to use a little bit more force than is strictly necessary when apprehending villains. People who might be villains quite easily in different circumstances. Usually pretty powerful, because they have to be, to survive. Not always, though. Sometimes they're just lucky or smart, which is power of it's own.
-The people who are basically threats to all life, that both of the above two categories set everything aside to deal with. The people who were psychos before they got their powers, and after. These are the ones that make you think 'ah, so this is why capes are needed'. Because without them, these guys level cities. In some cases, literally. They're almost universally powerful, because the ones that aren't die or get caught really fucking fast.

So, if this is still going, I suggest that Yourmaster and myself Multitrigger, as seen in WB's google doc, I and either my mother or one of her allies are being held hostage by him as the police prepare to breach and everything goes to shit.

I was there after my mother had an appointment with business associates immediately after picking me up after school.  Thus she wasn't able to avoid bringing me along this time.  I had orders to stay in the car, but my curiosity got the better of me and I snuck in just prior to the police arriving and causing everyone to shoot one another.
