Just this one tile for some reason:

The whole section is carved from a mostly granite z-level.  No constructed walls or anything like that.  It's just a rough-hewn granite wall.  It refuses to let me designate it for smoothing.  It's maddening.

Anyone else recognize this issue or have any ideas why it would happen?

I think a miner started to dig it out and then was interrupted partway through.

I'm not sure that's it because I don't remember ever marking that tile to be dug out.

Is that known to make a tile un-smoothable?

I don't recall 100%, but I believe I've smoothed partially mined walls in the past and gotten smoothed walls but with the color difference and diagonal lines through the symbol that you get from half mined stone. Not sure though.

If it's bothering you purely for aesthetic reasons, I would simply tear it down and build a granite wall construction instead. That way it would still function as a wall, and look like a smoothed wall.

There is nothing above it.  There was a forbidden cloth hat, but I claimed it.

Tearing it down is probably what I'm going to do.  I'm debating between granite blocks and black bronze blocks.
