Dixon Webb looked at himself in the mirror, wondering if he was gaining weight. Probably. Not sleeping well. Wonders why he is taking Suzanna's breakup with him so hard. He's struck out before. This time was different.
He goes over the letter again and again, hour after hour. Is it sincere? Mocking? Is she trying to tell him something-or warning him from getting close?

The Bomb was for me. I'm not who I told you I was. I've got connections and ways-I'm running things on my own. Usually I order the bombs myself. Not so bad for a dilettante newspaperman's kept woman, right?

He can recognize the handwriting. Though he doesn't recognize the title-the Stranger. Does it mean anything? Or just a misdirection?
Webb shrugged a jacket on and left his empty apartment to go to the bar. He couldn't stand to be here. He certainly couldn't go back home. Would probably sell the place, it came down to it. Assuming anyone would buy a place with the breakfast nook being turned into a smoking crater.
Dixon tugs the letter into his wallet.
