Am I rolling four six-sided dies, 6 seperate times, ignoring the lowest from each of the rolls?

Well, three of them dropping nothing apparently, but yes, that's the formula.

No, just rolling six sets of three dice. The standard among d20 is 4d6 drop the lowest.
