Filling containers with water

Is it possible to fill containers with water from rivers/cisterns etc, for use in brewing reactions?

I'm not sure if you can physically do so, but I believe you could use a filling station workshop requiring a water source to run a reaction inputting containers and outputting containers of water.

filling station workshop requiring a water source

More research on that path shows that others have been having the exact same problem, at least now I know it is probably a dead end.

Looks like it is possible to collect sand or clay for brewing, if one wanted to cook/brew stones like the Gorons from Zelda.

I haven't found a nice way to fill buckets. The best I have managed is to set up a pond area that dwarves will attempt to fill but can't because of a hatch and pressure plate. It isn't pretty but it can be used.
