Quote from: The Party
Railroad to adventure!

After sorting out who is carrying the makeshift stretcher, everyone follows the gnome warrior's map to find Pingtu the priest. First you head east, to the cavern that held the old temple to Segojan Earthcaller. The famous and magnificent building was sacked during the drow attack on Blingdenstone, and it has long sat as a decrepit ruin. The headquarters of the gnomish expedition is set up in a building near the temple, but you all ignore it for now as you continue south-east into another large cavern. In better times this area used to be one of the more fashion meeting spots for the locals, and you can barely make out a few tavern signs on the ruined and burnt-out buildings as you walk past. Nowadays the few intact structures are used as barracks by the wearied and battered gnomish soldiers reclaiming Blingdenstone. The sight of another dead body barely causes a stir among the resting warriors, but a few gather to pay their respects and point you towards your destination. On the other side of the cavern, away from the makeshift barracks and surrounded by a flat field of rubble and smashed stone, are the famous Speaking Stones of Blingdenstone.

Quote from: The Speaking Stones
Two dozen stone monoliths stand here, arranged in a rough circle with a gap on one side. Seven of the stones, about evenly spaced, stand around eight feet tall, much taller than the rest. Each taller monolith has a vaguely humanoid shape, stooped and bent like a giant, sleeping deep gnome.

Standing among the stones and dwarfed by their massive size is a short gnome in green priest's robes. The gnome, obviously being Pingtu, hasn't noticed your arrival yet, for he is too busy staring at the stones glumly.

"Hello there! Pingtu the priest, is it?"

Steven straightens his robes and wipes any bat poop off his hands while approaching the gnome.

Nil motions twards the Gnome, carrying the corpse with Dain to him. When close enough he calls out:
"Sir? I am Nil Govosduthur, Xanroar Soldshort directed us here to lay the body of his comrade to rest, could you help us?"

"Hello there! Pingtu the priest, is it?"

The gnome looks startled as you approach, but rapidly composes himself and bows in greeting. "Yes, that is my name. And you are?"

Nil motions twards the Gnome, carrying the corpse with Dain to him. When close enough he calls out:
"Sir? I am Nil Govosduthur, Xanroar Soldshort directed us here to lay the body of his comrade to rest, could you help us?"

Pingtu looks at the body and sighs wearily before moving forward to direct the stretcher bearers to follow him. "Of course, it is my solemn duty." He leads everyone to a ruined temple and down a flight of stairs that connect to the catacombs underneath. A few crippled gnomes are there, tending the bodies of the dead. They take the body from the stretcher, allowing you all to escape back to the fresher air outside.

"My name is Steven Seagal. I am a follower of Azuth, and an acolyte in his church. I have come to... research any magical artefacts that may be uncovered during the course of your reclamation."
Steven gestures to the other party members.
"On my way here, I managed to ally myself with these brave fellows. Perhaps we can be of assistance to you?"

Steven gestures to the other party members.

Pingtu's glum constance brights up a bit. "Of course you can. We are always in need of strong bodies, but there is something special you can do for us poor souls," she says gesturing to the stones.

Quote from: Pingtu
“Back in the old days, we communed with our gods through the Speaking Stones. We have tried to call on them again, but they have been silent for all the years since our return. Many of us think we cannot possibly hope to reclaim the whole city while the stones are sleeping. Waking them will restore our spiritual heart. It might even restore our hope. Then, perhaps, we can finish the work we have started.”

"Please, I beg of you, help us unravel the curse that inhabits these holy stones."

((Is he with us now?))

((Yes. Everyone is together and with Pingtu who I want to call Pingu for obvious reasons.))

((I could probably just rest and cast Detect Magic. I don't know why I don't have it prepared.
Though this would be a piss-poor adventure if it were that easy.))

Steven examines the rocks closely.

((Damn, he included the body in his railroading. Here I was gonna accidentally lose it on the way just to see how USEC would handle that. DRAT!))

Oh move aside! A dwarven scholar is much better suited to unravel this mystery!

Prove dwarven superiority to the uppity mage by examining the curse BETTER.

((Note: Dain is slightly racist))

Nil smacks his face at all his companions actions towards the stones. I mean, its bad enough that the wimps are doing it, but soldiers? Doing this sort of silly shit?
