I said that rule. You keep Us up.
Can you post examples of what you mean? Also, where this rule originated from? And if everyone writes cursive without following it, how it was maintained as a rule?

It'd be like saying people who call ethanoic acid acetic acid aren't chemists, because they don't always use IUPAC nomenclature.

Well when you do a u, you attach a ~ to the top right to connect it.

Generally speaking everyone compromises on at least one letter. One of my professors did it with Ns and Ms where he would use one hump for N and two for M instead of two and three.

I used cursive once. On the SAT, on the bit where you have to write that you solemnly swear that you are not someone else.

...

So far as I can figure, it's either pointless, or a fallback test if they think you're someone else, since everyone is awful at cursive in their own unique ways and so would look different if they hauled someone else in and compared it. Other than that, it's just an obsolete leftover from the days before fonts existed. It's terrible and unparseable and so is never used for anything except for identification using solely the fact that you screw it up in a unique way. Like signatures.

Quoted and (slightly) paraphrased for truth and great justice.

In semi-related news, signatures as a method of verifying EFTPOS transactions have just been all-but phased out in either my state (Victoria) or my country (Australia).

I foresee a lot of confused and/or angry old people.

I have never seen a good cursive letter 'r.' Everyone screws up 'r' sometimes. That said, cursive is pleasant if you have to write on paper, but most people don't these days.

"r" is like half the "u", can't see how it can be screwed up

Welp, I never learned writing T like that in school. Different types of cursive probably.

My handwriting is messy enough in print, when I write in cursive, it looks like random scribbles.

I use cursive for exactly two things.
1) My signature, because it doesn't really need to be legible anyways and it allows for all sorts of fun flourishes.
2) Lowercase letter 'k's, because normal print ones are annoying to do compared to other lowercase print letters.

Other than that, down with cursive.
