Oh thanks!  Another... dacite... crown.  With hanging rings of whocares.  Worth a whole 4800 this time.  Good job Urist.  Pull the lever on your way out.

I'm new to succession forts in general, yes, but do all forts designed by multiple overseers inevitably degenerate into a body-filled labyrinth of chaos and despair like this? Or is this just a Battlefailed thing?

There isn't much middle ground between killed-by-dragon and never-seen-by-dragon.

It would be nice if you could give accessories to your dwarves, and they'd get a happy thought from wearing them if they liked the item of jewelry itself, or the stuff used to make and/or decorate it.

I just got a nickel silver axe. And a legendary weaponsmith in year one. Not as bad as it could be.

My current fortress has had two moods so far - both children.
One at least became legendary; the other was possessed and gets no reward for their efforts.
The legendary one will actually be useful in a couple of in-game years.
I forgot exactly what the crafts were, but the first made something out of bone and the other made a wood thing.

My hunter made a polar bear bone chain. It's useful, but how does that even work?

most of these artifacts aren't even bad, hell most are good here.

Can't say anything good about instruments and wooden craft moods, though. Unless you have no metal and legendary woodcrafter and masterwork wood bolts all day.

I think it's not that the artifacts here are bad, rather it's just that the ones posting them would rather have had something else. I would love an artifact addy craft for the wealth it would bring.

The child who had a secretive mood became a woodcrafter, letting my fort spit on elves EVEN HARDER.
The bone artifact was made by a possession, so they get no rewards.

...my fort (the one that made the two artifacts with only one legend out of them) has all 3 iron ores and native platinum.
Haven't dug deep enough to see what else lies beneath.
I typically generate worlds with it set to Frequent.

I got a crown once made out of Tyrannosaurus bones. Decorated with horns of a Torvosaurus. Was kinda useless. But it had an image of an elf getting eaten by a Tyrannosaurus, so I liked it.

See, while that may be useless in-game, what you've actually got is a bone crown with giant spikes on it. And it shows an elf getting eaten. How is that not badass awesome?

If I knew how, I'd tell the king to wear it. Then I'd find it useful.

Leave it somewhere for an adventurer to claim. Hide it behind several monsters. Only one who can slay them is worthy of wearing such a symbol.
