I did miss those
« on: July 20, 2014, 01:17:42 pm »

I can't recall having had sparring accidents happen in DF2012.

But now they're back! Rejoice!
I just found one of my soldiers in the hospital with a broken rib.
Here's what happened:

That seems less like a accident and more like a consequence of the way everybody seems to hate using weapons, so they punch, kick, and grab.

It's a reverse hostage situation, if you kill the snatchers they'll fill your fort with babies.

Yay, way better than "launches him from the upper arm, lightly throwing the target"

I definitely had these in the last version, it was actually pretty common for me and caused a few fort's destruction.

Its a feature. Impregnating booze is a planned tech tree for dwarves and this is a sneak peek at it.

I might be imagining things but this kind of accident doesn't seem to happen when dwarves spar in a wide open area, it seems to be related to either falling a z-level of slamming into something after being thrown.

This exists. Falling damage, at least, depends on the density of the floor material. Wouldn't be surprised if it applies to collisions with walls, too.

Pave the barracks in blue wafers (or more reasonably, any of the lighter wood types) and I bet throwing becomes much safer.

Featherwood barracks are things now? What if you just surrounded everything with water?

You'd get soldiers dragging along the ground until they hit the moat, getting beat up on the ground and then dumped into water. If they got beat up the wrong way, you just drowned a soldier.

I had sparring pools before and as long as there are plenty of ramps, only lethal injuries will cause them to drown. I just wondered if this had changed in 40.0x
