Rules, Guidelines and ExplanationsThanks for the interest shown and suggestions made for having a tournament or competition in Dwarf Fortress. As there has been a considerable amount of interest I have decided to write up a series of guidelines, rules and explanations that will be used.
ExplanationThe tournaments themselves will be organized and played over a different time-span from a few days, to a week, to months. Their will be different types of tournaments and ways of deciding a winner of that specific tournament for example some tournaments will require you to have a happy utopia like fortress, while some will require a hate-filled, demon-blighted hell hole and some will be Adventure mode tournaments with different aims such as; wiping out as many sentients as possible, relaying a specific object or getting through a player made death-trap.
The type of tournament to be run will be decided by the administration which currently consists of just me. At the end of each tournament a winner will be decided either by, 1) A point allocated scoring system, 2) A community poll or 3) A private vote within selected individuals and the Administration. The winner of each tournament will (hopefully) receive a prize the type of which will be decided during each tournaments organization.
RulesRules may be changed to suit each tournament but these will most likely be included in everyone. Breaking these will most likely result in disqualification.
- No cheating.
- The Administration has the final say.
- You must use the pre-determined map.
- No mods.
- No excessive use of exploits.
Please post suggestions for new rules because I really suck at thinking of new ones.
GuidelinesThese guidelines are not as strict as the rules but should be followed to allow everyone to remain calm, to keep everything fair and most importantly to keep everything fun.
- Share information.
- Be fair when judging, no voting for yourself or your friends.
- Post a reason for your vote once you have voted if you feel like you should explain your reasoning.
- Keep arguments on the low.
- No flame wars.
- Please avoid derailing the thread too much.
- A log of what you did while playing is definitely appreciated.
- Most importantly have fun!
- Have !!FUN!! too.
