I don't think anyone is taking Palace on the Lake of Fire any time soon, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on. It's mostly in Ciacco's and Durus' court now, though I could probably force a few vendettas to get a land border there. Too early to tell really. With +3 prestige and +1 order slot that place is sure to be watched by everyone, I'm sure.

Temple of Lust is Davi Owie's public objective, but he's too far away from it. It wouldn't be so bad if he hadn't taken -1 movement perk (weak legion and -1 movement, where did you use all your fiend points I wonder...).

--

So anyways, how does everyone feel about the map? I like this type's mix of semi open semi chokepointed mountain clusters. In addition the über POP's seem to be fairly evenly distributed.
edit:
I added a few of the spoilered bits into the OP below game settings.

further editry:
Great Satan, four of you are Princes?

Four of us are also gluttons!
Regal overeaters. I suppose there's historical precedence to that.

I just hope our poor lonely Baron won't end up being the diplomatic equivalent of a spit bin. Particularly so if he is revealed to be not quite so poor.

I feel cheated by the angelic hordes that drew the map! Yessir. My greatness deserves more(much more!) than three cantons, arranged in such a cheeky fashion so as to prevent my legions from going from one side of the stronghold to the other. What a joke, how dare they, who do they think I am?

I shall file a complaint. I'll fight for my rights as the Prince of Hell before the Conclave!
Let me just finish attending this orgy I have thrown last month. Maybe next winter I'll start on the paperwok... no that is no good either, I've just remembered I'm scheduled to drink, be merry and deprave the souls of the recently deceased nun covenant.
Perhaps next year then! (Or the one after, I can't promise anything at this point)
But do tremble in fear, for I will have my revenge*!

*unless I won't get around to it. Really, can't be bothered much these days.

You legions can walk through your stronghold, I'm pretty sure, they just can't end turn on them.

Which makes it extra difficult when you've got one movement point.

I am upset, Il Palazzo. Why didn't you send me souls? I can't buy anything with this. I demand a refund. Also that legion you bought -- what, why!? Why do you hate me so? You know melee is my thing! Stop hogging MY niche!

A mysterious buyer acquired the Meketrix Lash, which guarantees a level-up after successful battle.

Our not so mysterious buyer is none other than Durus, the Prince of Wrath! That legion of his is going to be a mean lean killing machine if he gets a few more combats done.

Fear him who would tear down your house and toss your name and very being into the abyss for an eon.

I will be honest: Solium Infernum is pretty much the best game.

There really aren't enough games that focus on Machiavellian diplomacy, or even just diplomacy. The kinds of constraints imposed by that stuff makes it more interesting, not less.

To be honest, I find SI fun mostly due to its presentation. It really feels like a solid, mature vision of hell that's just fun to get immersed in.
In the mechanics department, the numbers-based victory conditions seem a bit dry and underwhelming. The Usurper victory being a nice exception to that.

I won't argue that Prestige is a bit flat - I want voting and politicking, dammit, not accounting - but the level of abstraction kinda works with the theme of a rigid infernal political system. Something more direct would be more susceptible to gaming, and could easily go against the notion that the lords are jockeying for power within a larger system rather than trying to conquer and remake it.

Good point. It is infernal bureaucracy after all.

I'm really digging the bureaucracy, and the rigid formality of it. It is very medieval, much like its theme. Besides, you can conduct diplomacy even outside of the specific order to conduct diplomacy. I can tell Delta that Durus has the most amazing ranged legion I have ever seen, and then we can plot its downfall. That's backroom diplomacy, though, not fit for the convened lords and ladies of Pandemonium.

Davi Owi, the prince of beggars! All the poor come to you in their time of need...
