Marriages anyone?
« on: July 18, 2014, 04:32:57 pm »

Hiya,

I was wondering, has anyone had a founding dwarf get married yet?  None of mine even have lover (by the end of the second spring), even though they all have an age-appropriate match.  So has arranging marriages gotten more difficult in this version?

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur

It is now possible for any of the possible to happen

no interest in marriage
interest in same sex and/or differing sex lovers
interest in same sex and/or differing sex marriages

Some dwarfs are only interested in the same sex, some are only interested in the opposite, some are interested in both, some just aren't interested.

Edit: This behaviour can be altered through modding if you wish to do so and I believe the information on how to do so is available on the wiki so I suggest you check there for how.

Homosexual dwarves in 40.0.x ? Really ? I thought toady had said no to that.

Speaking in 34.11 where i spent ages marrying off all my dwarves and having procreation as my means of growing population, some personality types are incompatible (for marriage). If they say "long term acquaintance" on the relationship status I never got them to marry (after years of being holed up in a loveshack). Alternatively compatible dwarves could sometimes get married in under a year.

The personality system has been reworked but id be surprised if two dwarves couldnt still be incompatible

That's a pretty cool thing for Toady to do.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.
