Star Wars- The Old Republic, anyone still play this?
« on: July 17, 2014, 04:27:26 pm »

So a few days ago I stumbled upon teamfourstar's Let's Play of this and it got me interested in playing again, but I would like to have someone to play the game with, so does anyone on Bay12 still play this abomination? :P

I'm playing a Sith Inquisitor that just reached level 10, meaning I can finally actually SPEAK to other people (EA is so fucking retarded) so hopefully someone has a similarly leveled Warrior?
If not, I'd be glad to go through the starting missions with you and get the full experience (the sith ones actually were pretty awesome, unlike EVERY OTHER START PLANET :P)

Is that the Bioware RPG? I've been playing that absently for a while now, off and on.

Yup, that's the one. Once you get past the whole "EA charges you to not see your helmet" thing and other such ridiculousness you can find that the conversation system and such make up for the fairly generic MMO combat stuffs. Well, after you get off the first planet if you aren't a Sith I mean. Seriously, those other start planets are TERRIBLE.

MMO? There's no multiplayer, as far as I'm aware.

*facepalm*

You were talking about KOTOR weren't you?

Knights of the Old Republic is a normal RPG.

"The Old Republic" without the Knights part, is a MMO they made to desecrate the lore of the KOTOR games. Its technically free to play now, although since its overseen by EA you naturally have to pay for such things as hiding your characters helmet or CHATTING BEFORE LEVEL 10.

But yeah, once you get past the exploitation its pretty cool, actually has FREAKING CONVERSATIONS instead of "NPC text dump fetch quest #5"

If I want to be frustrated by my lack of powergaming skill, do I really need to be social about it as well :P?

And it has BFEL!
You can't beat it for having BFEL in it!

Some quality BFEL in this game :P

I'm pretty sure The Old Republic is nothing but multiplayer, apart from the standard solo content most MMO's have.

Likewise Knights of The Old Republic is nothing but singleplayer.

I think I have a level 20-something...Sith something-or-another. The one that gets the awesome snarky Twi'lek. Whichever that one was. I paid the $5 to bypass most of the super-annoying limitations. But I stopped playing because they released an update that made it not work for me anymore. This was a year ago or so. It's possible they've fixed whatever the problem was by now.

If you haven't given up on the game by level 20-25, let me know and I'll reinstall and see it if can get it to work. My character was a tank.

Odds are good that you'll give up by then though. The game is painfully bad. I was only playing it for the snarky Twi'lik. She's awesome.
