The Queen is here!
« on: July 17, 2014, 06:29:30 am »

So here I am minding my own business and suddenly I have a queen.

how on earth did this happen?  Never got as far as having royalty in my fort before.

The previous one died and it turned out that one of you tinkers happened to be heir.

Odds are, you embarked from a dead civilisation, though they will still send caravans and migrants somehow. This means that with no other heirs, one of your dwarves inherited queenship instead.
It's also possible that the previous king died in battle, or old age, or whatever, and the now-queen was next in line.

Also ninja'd.

Ah that'd be pretty cool if it wasn't for the face I dumbly embarked without an anvil and haven't had a Dwarven caraven in a year.

You should be able to get an anvil off the humans eventually.

That's why I always mod in a reaction to cast an anvil at the smelter.

This too.

I like the way kings and queens are handled now.

-The moutainshome have fallen, and the king with them!
-Wich means... Tirist is our new queen!
-ALL HAIL THE QUEEN!
-I AM THE QUEEN!
...
-Ok Tirist, get back to hauling that stone now.
-But...

Urist Fishspikes, Baron of the Hauling Silver had an idea. The Queen had been slain in the battle of the clashing volcanoes, an heir had to be selected. He checked the lineage... There was an heir in some forlorn outpost far away. Someone unheard of, Tirist Unalablel.
'Gentledwarves and ladies, I am saddened to announce the death of our monarch! The queen is dead, long live Queen Tirist!'
'Where is Queen Tirist?' The mayor asked.
'Attending to important resource management in one of our outposts. I shall rule in her stead.'

Well the queen is currently the furnace operator so that's kind of almost nearly important.  Her chamber is royal now too :) .

What happens if she dies without a heir?

A more interresting question would be to let her marry and have children.
See if her husband become king with the marriage, and if she, he, or both get killed, if a children does take the succession.

EDIT: And then kill the child king, and see if one of his brother/sister inherit of the throne... Basically test succession laws.
SCIENCE NEEDS TO BE DONE.

Yes, but can this be weaponized? This is the true question any Dorfen scientist MUST ask himself!

I ended up with  a queen as well, I only had 15 people though. She was a woodcutter, not even a very good woodcutter.
