Misadventures in Chivalry - Ready? Set? Quest!
« on: July 16, 2014, 03:36:42 pm »

The King has been kidnapped by wizards! Are you a chivalrous enough nobleman to rescue him?

This is not a replacement for any other RtD, just a lowish-effort something to screw around with... and maybe to get back into the hand of things with. Accepting around five noble knights. Survival not guaranteed!

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Science is always important. But it needs more flaming cats. Can't we build bridge-based catapults and fling flaming cats at the dust and goo?

It's time for the ATHATH Death Counter to increase once more in celebration for the end of the world.

NAME/TITLE: Abu Zahir, Sheriff of the Sunken County
CREST: a black spiral set inside a white rhombus.
DESCRIPTION: with darting eyes and careful beard, old Abu Zahir is like a gnarled swamp birch, small yet hardy. He is significant in looks, more so in speech, for he is loud and easily heard across all of the Sunken County, and the pitch of his voice is most suited to causing great alarm in all men and women of the world. He knows no doubt and knows no fear, but only the solemn call of duty, and also the great dark chill of immense boredom suffusing his very being.
BACKSTORY: Abu Zahir, as Sheriff of the Sunken County, is tasked with two things - living there, which is a tall order even for a tricky man such as he, and turning away all unwary peasants and explorers, lest they sink much like the village that was his home. He is not a man of great deeds or significant chivalry, but he is famed for his dutiful execution of his duties, for he has been the gray ghost of the Sunken Country for nigh on fifteen years now, ever since the sinking of it happened and he knew no recourse but to escape and tell the king all about it. That was a different time, of course, before years of loneliness and isolation set in, broken only by occasional wanderers and adventurers with whom he needed to do battle to secure their turning away. Being one of the few knights with no real properties to defend (though Abu Zahir himself was not informed of this as being the rationale behind his nomination), he was the ideal fit for an adventure, as many of the other knights were far too fat and lordly to bother themselves with such things.
ARMAMENTS: an arbalest with bolts, several sealed metal containers of quicklime, a set of torches and a dagger.
ARMOR: the lightest of armors, milord, practically a padded set of clothes, really - Abu Zahir is very much perceptive, and not often a fighter in close quarters, and does not wear much armor, lest he sink in the sinkholes of the Sunken County.
SKILLS: intimidation (more of the ominous looks and dire warnings sort, but intimidation nevertheless), perception, wilderness survival.

Name: Deitar, Lord of the Hills.
Crest: Two lions, one of each side of the banner. One side is purple and the other side is blue, with a white divider. The lions are looking at each other, paws up.
Description: A blond, 30 year old man, slightly above average height, with blue eyes. He is very charismatic, and is good at persuading others. He is usually calm, but can go into a rage if he is pressed too much.
Backstory: Deitar arrived in the kingdom a poor warrior with a nobleman's banner. He managed to raise a band of peasants, and fought in the king's army with his men. Although he did some bad things, like razing enemy villages, he climbed the ranks to become one of the king's trusted men. He obtained his title after famously holding off an enemy army in the kingdom's hills, with a severe numerical disadvantage.
Armaments: He carries a bastard sword and a shield. Besides that, he relies on his trusty steed.
Armor: Chain mail and a Great Helm (aka bucket helmet)
Skills: Training, Tactics, Persuasion.
