7 Dwarfs, one of whom is a King???

Hey,
So I just booted up DF 2014 for the first time, and jumped right into a pretty standard embark.
I brought a Tree Cutter, 2 Miners, A Herbalist, A Farmer, A Carpenter, and A Mason!

Only problem is, once the mason built a single wall, he turned into the King! He still works, still builds, still labors in workshops. But he demands crazy stuff, like any other king. I'm keeping him happy, in case he is needed for !!!SCIENCE!!!, but I have no clue if anyone else knows what is going on or has seen this.

This happens when you embark on a dead civilization. So it has no other lands or leaders except your first 7. Migrants will still come in, maybe in much smaller waves.

In .40 it seems that megabeasts destroy towns much more often and if they destroy a town, any important figures there will be a guaranteed kill.

Previously megabeasts just stole items and ate people. Now they outright invade which is insta-win in the current version.

Same thing has happened to me, we've got 15 dorfs. One of them is the queen. Dis gon be gud.

I heard that ALL invasions (goblin, elven, whatever) were insta-win. Attack = target site is totally exterminated.
