Anyway, I'd like a mousepad that has a giant Ñ on it, the Ñ alternating between the colors of the night creature tiles with "NOW YOU WILL KNOW WHY YOU FEAR THE NIGHT" in a circle around the whole thing.

I would buy that also. Is there a policy on dwarf fortress merch? What is an appropriate amount to send Toady One from the profit on each object? At cost and encourage the buyer to donate what they can to cause? I sort of get why Toady One doesn't run his own merch shop, it seems like a lot of work and he doesn't need the money. I am sad that it curtails the amount of DF merch I can adorn my body/home with, though.

There are a few really great reads that never got into the Hall of Legends, though, as well as a few entries that made it in by having the relevant thread-community vote it in... It'd be a tough decision on what to include.

If such a thing were to be made, I'd voice my support for this. I don't think it's in the Hall of Legends, but it's one of the best DF-related things I've read so far.

I would like to live long enough to see a relatively finished version of DF. I mean a version not composed of basically TODO signs. I mean the scope of the project is huge, and admirable, but if you measure the progress against the years that pass by, it induces a dose of pessimism. Also, I am no longer young, so to say.

No particularly sure what you mean by this?

By most estimates, it will be 20-30 years before we get Dwarf Fortess 1.0.  It is 1-2 years between releases, and each release increments about 0.03, so to get from 0.40 to 1.00 will take about 30 years.
