And a chunk of flesh, when you 'animate' that, do you have control over individual cells? Could you make muscle cells contract, for example?

In case you think I'm trying to trick you here, I'm thinking inducing something akin to a cytokine storm or a similar reaction from a flesh wound.
Possible?
Probably, though, if my limited knowledge of biochemistry and the slapdash methods of the immune system are right, there's a limited speed to a reaction like that and it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would kill quickly enough to matter. Maybe if you use it like a poison. And I assume it might self correct after his control released.

I wouldn't call the immune system 'slapdash' (at least, not when it works as intended) but it ca surely screw you over.

More generally, I think that debilitating damage to the area hit would occur in about a few seconds, crippling/knocking out the beast in a minute or 2, then kill it in a couple more.
Of course, if you wanna avoid shenanigans like that, you could just say 'sorry, alien physiology, doesn't work like that' and be done with it.

I wonder it a hit to the head area would let you 'animate' (aka control) the brain though... pet monster!

That last one might be possible, BUT only in creatures of human or smaller size without some very good rolls.

Also, I'm posting a new area for this on monday, Get your butts together.

What about my fragmentation dart, PW? Could that kill or at least internally injure a monster?

It wouldn't explode, it would just break into pieces. And you could only control one of them.

That's all I need. A bunch of pieces in the body or bloodstream should be bad anyway, and I can control one to tear more things up.

Alright, this next one is gonna take place in a cave. Here be the map.

You're all on red right now. If you'd like a particular color for your individual square when you split off, let me know.

Now everyone take a deep breath and try to think up a plan because this time I'm not gimping the creature. I'm gonna open up the entire generator.

Challenge accepted PW.
Right, so the point we have all started at is a nice and safe one, lots of cover, and if the monster is just as big as that giant bird it'll probably have trouble moving through the cracks, even though it'll probably have something like has dislocate able joints in its generation.

Hmmm, if the monster is cowardly the best solution is the top right there, as you can see, there would be a lot of hiding spots for us to be in before we jump out to surprise it and corner it.

So we could have someone with good sinew stat to find the creature, taunt it, and then run to that choke point.
Unless the creature has a even higher sinew or some special ability.
Any thoughts?

Half your size.
Half your size against a big monster which we don't even know what kind of powers it has?
You really do so desperately want to use that glaive don't you?

Use them as a distraction, to lure the monster, the recover javelins, tend to teammates, perform adorable circus acts.

And I'm not actually in this game, remember? I could never use it!

Actually thats a pretty good idea, might try that.
Anyway, anybody have other ideas on how we could trap or at least take the creature down?
One thing I want to say is at all costs do not get corned into the bottom right, that seems like a death zone for anyone not the monster.
Edit: Actually, If the monster is big enough, we could use the Bottom-ish middle to lose it if things go directly to the fan.
Top left is a good surprise attack spot as well.

The thing I'm surprised nobody has thought of is what if the monster climbs? Like a Khezu. Or is small and fast. Or is snake like and can just squeeze through the cracks? Or has a petrifying gaze and the rocks are actually other monsters and would-be hunters? And that last one was only partially a joke.

On the glaive: The effect only lasts for a few minutes. But maybe I could animate a rock, throw it away from us, and have it roll to make noise and attract the monster or lure it away.

Also, bigger bottom left area has a better choke point that maybe we could collapse. And bottom center is a thin winding area. Probably not a good idea to collapse that, though. Would take forever to escape if I had to animate the rocks out of the way one by one.

I said it probably has dislocateable joints or something that helps manoeuvrability, I just don't know what plan could counteract that.
And even if it is small and fast, top right is still a good trap point, even if it can climb.
I think one fact to consider is the fact that the middle is very sparse in cover, and that is where the great swords and other wide swinging clubs or blades would do good, while the more tight points would be where my spear would be a good boon.

Why not start with the simple things before you move to complex things like combat strategy? You know nothing about the creature, so any plan you make is very likely to fail. And the creatures are also magical, so that doubles their potential to be unpredictable. So your first concern in my opinion should be to find the best scouting strategy first. After you know your enemy, you can decide which tactics have the highest chance of succeeding and how to best ambush it (or outright attack it if it sounds better).
