You fly down to the capital of Reta, which is called Millry. It is a relatively small city situated in a bay far from the border, though many ships are flying through the area. There is a small fee to enter the hangar, which is a little lower than usual. You then ask around about buying gases, and you are directed to a company outlet a couple kilometers away, who apparently will deliver the containers to your ship. Once your reach there, it appears to be a large warehouse with a shop in the front where they are selling the containers. There are two guards on the sides, and a shopkeeper inside behind a computer terminal. The shopkeeper shows a list of gases and their prices.

He also tells you that there is a 10% tax on exports of gases, and carrying them across the border taxes you an additional 10%, though you will generally still make a small profit.

You take off from the hangar after they have all the metal cylinders containing hydrogen brought to your ship, which you you then put in your storage area. You fly away from the city, over landscape mostly composed of dry savannas, barren deserts, and brown hills for roughly an hour at your low speeds until your computer shows that the border is ten kilometers away. You slow down as you see the border checkpoint, a complex of walls, fences, towers, and domes. The main dome appears to be the hangar, so you get in line and wait to enter the checkpoint. About ten minutes later, you are able to land in the hangar, where two soldiers and an inspector board your ship, look around, and check your storage before they get out. However, just as they go down the elevator and you are cleared to go, an explosion rocks the hangar. "Stay in your ship!" the inspector shouts at you, shortly followed by a sharp whining noise as bullets fly through the air. You rush back into the cockpit just in time to see the hangar doors close, and you get a general feel of the battlefield as well—Retans dressed in civilian clothing are firing at the Peltanian soldiers. It looks like their are maybe three ships full of Retans, firing from the boarding ramp or under their ships, and the explosion was a control center to the left. What do you want to do now?

The yellow dots are Retan, the blue are Peltanian, and you are in the lower left ship.

Just stay inside, get your weapons, have the other two stay hidden but do your best to appear harmless in case anyone enters so you can ambush them if necessary.

Sorry for the lack of an update, I really need to work out some mass combat rules, as this is taking forever...

Ok, I have some abstracted mass combat rules, so I don't have to roll 3 d20s for every single bullet. Update hopefully tomorrow, probably Monday.

Is there room to turn the ship, and does the pilot have the skill to do so in such right quarters? If so, turn it 135 degrees clockwise, strafing the Retans as we do so. Try not to shoot the Peltanian on the left, and tell the one closest to our ship to back up so the ship doesn't hit him.

Da, you can turn. The launch and landing engines on the bottom would incinerate anyone under them, though. Your railgun should be able to murder them pretty well. Oopdoot tomorrow.

The fighting rages on as you hide out in your ship. The Peltanians seem to be doing better by far than the Retans, who only have semi-automatic rifles versus the Peltanian's machine guns. You anxiously finger your rifle as you mull on what to do, finally deciding to help the Peltanians. After all, it was the Retans who tried to invade this base. You rush to the entrance pad where the inspection officer and another soldier are firing at the Retans, who appear to have no combat experience—only two men have been hit by them, only glancing wounds, while the Peltanians have already killed one and filled the rest with bullet wounds. "Get out from under the ship! I'm going to fire at the Retans!" you shout at him as he fires at the enemies. "I don't think we'll need that," he tells you as he guns one down. "Look—they're surrendering!" Well, most of them are either unconscious, dead, or huddling in their ships, but you could say that. At least two appear to be. What to do now?
