Temporary fix - fruit collection
« on: July 13, 2014, 04:15:16 pm »

As of right now, it's not possible for dwarves to collect fruit from trees in Fortress mode, but as a temporary fix, how about reverse-engineering the cave spider web collection code so that they do the same with fruit and nuts that have fallen off of trees?

I'm curious if anyone has tried dumping fruits that are on the ground, and seeing if they get reclaimed once they're in the fortress. Maybe a food stockpile could be built over the dump site after everything is there, and the fruit can be reclaimed that way?

You can't dump them since they're not items. They're technically clouds (like the kind you find in evil biomes.)

If you meant dropping them as an adventurer, I don't see how retiring your fort each time you need more food is desirable. It messes up a lot of stuff, and you might as well just buy from caravans.
