Midst
A place, (literal or metaphoric) in the middle of something.
You awaken strapped into some sort of machine, while a man in a suit looks out a window, staring into nothingness. You struggle against the straps, and something beeps on his person. He turns around, and smiles.
"Good, you're awake!"
"Where am I?" You respond.
He seems to be ignoring you as he says "Now, we just need to run you through a quick starter scenario, see if there's anything wrong. Shouldn't take too long, and you get to chose which one!"
Before you can respond, the machine seemingly closes in on itself, encasing you in a metal shell. On the inside of the shell, you can see a list of people. Most of the people are crossed out, but you can see two that are... available. Available for what, you don't know.
1. Benoit Roux. 17 Years Old, French. 1944. Operation Overlord was just getting into stride as troops landed on the beaches of Normandy. After clearing the beaches, United States soldiers and airborne infantry headed towards the city of Carentan. The German army lay in wait in the city. However, to young Benoit Roux, the exact details of the battle were of little consequence. What did matter, however, was that German soldiers had barricaded themselves inside his house, and the Americans were trying their hardest to get them out.
2. Jaron Marshall. 25 Years Old. English. 2016. Jaron was just another dreamer, an entrepreneur with an idea that could, quite possibly, make him rich. However, for the time being, that brilliant idea has to be set aside. While he was applying for a loan at a local bank, six men, armed with assault rifles and carrying ski masks, stormed into the bank, shot the security guards, and begun to take hostages. Before two minutes had passed, the entire bank was surrounded. One thing Jaron had noticed during the robbery: The robbers didn't seem to care about the money.
The metal shell then helpfully informed you that you had to pick one, soon.
