Action succeeds.

((It might be a bit helpful to get some information on where we are, what's happening and such. Otherwise there's literally no information to work off of aside from the vaguest of setting descriptions.))
Erlith was the capital of the known world before it became consumed in the fog, and much of the region's infrastructure is based on supporting the city. there is a large region of land surrounding it that is open farmland, with improved roads designed for large amounts of traffic leading inwards towards the city. the roads themselves have periodic rest facilities to support the large volume of traffic that comes up and down them normally. however, since the fog the roads have become quite desolate. The city itself, despite being a coastal city with a significant fishing fleet, cannot feed itself without outside help, and based on how long the fog has been there, everyone inside should be trying to deal with starvation issues. Beyond the capital province, the territory begins to stabilize and is less focused on supporting the single super-city, but Erlith's influence is still noticeable. many businesses are reliant on sending or receiving goods to and from Erlith, and the sudden loss has caused such businesses to shut down or pay exorbitant prices for alternate supply sources. The government of the country was based in Erlith, and only minor regional governors didn't operate from inside there. This is the main cause of the disorganization and petty power politics regarding attempting to stop whatever is happening. The regional governors are trying to work together, but with their own interests in mind they aren't willing to take risks or make sacrifices that would degrade their authority.

The technology of the world is a little... eccentric. machines are commonly viewed as unreliable ways to blow yourself up, and inventors and scientists are sources of horror rather than sources of hope. Despite this, there has been signifigant amounts of research and innovation done. This has lead to most places having a medieval baseline tech level, but with complex machinery, firearms, and robotics available inconsistantly. for example you might have a medieval-style inn, with most everything at a medieval norm, but having plumbing availble in every room and a water heater kept in the basement, in a reinforced room inaccessible to the clientele.

As for what is happening inside the city? That is unknown. communications, scrying, and scouting is able to go in, but nothing is coming out except the occasional undead patrol.

((Not inside the city, or in the broader setting. I meant where we are right now. What's even happening? Who's around? Why are we there? How did we get there? Do we have any governing authorities? Any orders? Is there anything we're supposed to be doing? What do the surroundings look like?

Basically, what are the surroundings and context of our immediate existence?))

The inside of the outpost is pretty warm, a nice relief from the ice-cold rain outside. It's just a single room, with a fire in the center and a ladder going up to the actual watchtower in the corner, but that makes it easier to keep it warm. Lining the walls are the watcher's bunks, with a couple tables and chairs closer to the fire. the walls are wodden, and drafty, but functional, and the ceiling only leeks in two or three places. It's not a luxurious inn, but it's better than you'd find out on the road. Inside are most of the watchers, a varied mishmash from all walks of life. They've only been together for a couple days, and have been busy trying to make the place functional, so they haven't really had a chance to introduce themselves to each other. A few of the others are still outside watching for trouble, but they might come in to get out of the rain soon. For those inside, there isn't much left to do but to play cards and chat.
You've all gathered here for different reasons but the same goal. You each want to try to do something to fix this. To regain Erlith. Maybe you want to restabilize the government and economy. Maybe you want to gain fame and fortune. Maybe you just like killing undead. But for whatever reason, you each volunteered to stand watch at one of the outposts surrounding Erlith, and to join an attempt to retake it once one is organized... which doesn't seem to be happening.

((At last I see! I must not have mentally processed that post somehow! Sorry. Even with the quote, I scrolled away after a moment to see the other stuff on the page, then couldn't find it for three minutes with the rest of your posts on that page.))

Umfried the Left remained silent, for he knew not these vile people, and some of them seemed affiliated with witchcraft, particularly that wish granter. This was shaping up to be a very dangerous undertaking indeed. But when the going gets tough, the hand becomes quicker than the eye. Or something.

Loaf intensely.

'Hm... wonder if that wish granter could grant our wish hahaha,' Kaz says in Zack's mind to start a conversation with him.
"I-I don't trust him..." And Zack mumbles in response. Not loud enough for any normal person to hear.
'I was only joking hahaha. Of course I don't trust him either. We can't trust anyone but ourselves.'
"Y-yeah..."

Zach continues to wait on the bunk, and keeping an eye on Genie in particular.

Waiting....

The point of keeping the golems on fire isn't for the value of fire as a weapon. It's more to keep the golems functioning at a reasonable speed.
It was never a promise. It was a dirty lie, and you all knew that. You should all know by now that you can't trust a word I say.
