He read the book, tried the recipes, and was eventually driven insane, became obsessive of the book, and began searching for unfortunate test subjects to test his concoctions upon.

No one else on the station agrees to be bait. Altough one said he would, if he would receive 25 gold. That's a lot of money. You don't have any cash on you anyway.

Alev:

[31-5] You waste some time due to your busted knee and see that the place is under lockdown. It seems it was set on fire. After brief questioning, you find out that there are witnesses that say it burned down because of an accident with some high-power alcohol and candles. You have a dindling feeling this was an accident.

[NRDL]

"Greedy cretins..."

Demand the informant's clothing, so I can pose as him, in his place.

[Alev]

"Did any of you see an odd man with a guard uniform?"

NRDL:

"No way, moron! I ain't walkin' around with my junk out."

One of the Royal Guards (PRO TIP: DON'T BUG THEM, THEY WILL EAT YOUR SOUL) says:

"Leave the poor sod alone. That's an order."

Alev:
[90] The slightly burnt bartender get's his hand up and says:

"Yup, there's one right in front of me."
"Don't be a wise-guy. Spit it out."
"Well, there was one asking for the now gone informer. A pretty standard fella."

[Alev]

Where did he go? Tell me now, no joking around. Go in the right direction.

[NRDL]

"Grrrr.....fine, tell me at least what you were going to report to Fidel, I need to catch this bastard."

NRDL:
[91] You ask, he answers, that there wasn't much going on but...
Some weird guy entered commander's office. You have a felling you should follow him. Before you can get in there, though, a messenger appears. He is very tired and says: a letter for Mr. Nix! A letter for Mr. Jeremiah Nix!
You say:
"That's me. What you got there, buddy?"
He gives you a letter in a sealed envelope and runs out.

Alev:

[NRDL]

Open envelope and read contents.

NRDL:
It says that the commander of your station is being targeted for assassination right now.

[Alev]

Dammit, man. Ask someone else about where the psycho went.

[NRDL]

Head to the commander's quarters.  Bring the informant with me.

NRDL:
You forcibly drag the moaning guy along to the commander's office. [30] Just as you open the door, you are hit by an intense amount of heat that comes from the burning flesh, being the body of your deceased superior. You are able to just see a glint of movement near the window, but the smoke obstructs any view. The informer starts screaming for help. Suddenly, you see some men with buckets of water extinguishing the fire. When you look through the office window, you can see a crowd which seen the smoke and fire. The murderer ran away. Did anyone spot him?

Alev:
[63] After listening to some reports, you deduce that the guy in the uniform ran away to the good part of town.
