this.and in order not to be overpowered,give it a reagent,for example training weapons,and make it so that each time the reaction is ran it has a chance of consuming it.

oh,and here's an idea about the frost races:give them a reaction to make water from ice.it will help a lot early forts.

They're going to get an Icecarver's Workshop. They make Pykrete from wood pulp and water to make an ice construction material basically that's almost as good as stone. They'll also be able to make crafts out of ice (aka buckets of water.)

that's the point...a way to gain water in a frozen biome before you dig on the caverns and without having to embark with a lot of drinks.for the frost elves,for example.

I think that's what Shadowclaimer means when he says this:

The only thing the ice races would need to worry about is ever running out of ice.

I'd like to find a way to actually "refrigerate it" IE: require a material that will actually keep it cold.

Require a reagent made of nether cap wood?

Technically wouldn't work as a refrigerator, but nether cap wood has a fixed temperature of 10,000, which is quite cool.

Moved them to the Lizardmen subset, going with the small, scaly and relatively stupid and underfoot minion style kobolds.

Sorry about the lack of updates this week, Gencon was this weekend and I'm going to be recovering for a bit. It completely drained me.

Idea: biome creatures that include an entire food web as castes in the organism.  Less chance of lions than gazelles, less chance of gazelles than various rodents - it would make the predator/prey balance auto-correct and keep biome inappropriate animals like snow leopards stop attempting to attack your desert fortresses.
