I would agree this is most likely an accurate assessment. The Danes were really the only ones who bothered trying to curb your growth.

Oh don't mind me, just fighting what feels like about half of the final invasion fleet. :P

Anyway, trade wise:
@lemon: I will trade you that on the condition you attack me last (obviously if I attack you then it's void). However if it ends up with you mincing your way through the rest of Britain I'd probably capitulate at that point to save us the time.

@Squeegy: How does 3 wood per money sound?

Sounds like a fantastic deal. I'll take 90 wood for 30 money.

Throwing a bump out there for Varee.

I also feel the need to point out that I am far more of a threat in the long term to everyone then the Danes at this point. With the Danes no longer able to get overseas reinforcements they have no way to threaten me, whereas my massive (and rapidly growing) armies can crush them (and every other player) quite easily in a straight battle. Unless something major changes (eg. everyone making peace to fight me), I am pretty certain that there is about 0% chance of anyone else winning the game.
I am going to ride into Mercia fairly soon and murder them, followed (eventually) by Wessex, then the other players.
Oh, how many times that has been said.

I really can't see it not happening actually. There is no way for anyone to attack me (besides the Danes if they manage to get their fleet to safety), my army is by far the strongest, and my army growth is faster than that of any other player.
The worst case scenario is that everyone teams up and I can't hold the cities I conquer, in which case I will simply begin to raze all the cities I conquer to the ground.

Now, if I let my troops get picked of separately I will probably lose, but that isn't going to happen as I am going to play the invasion like I play the rest of the game: slowly and methodically.

Yeah, I'm really amused that despite me being the largest threat, none of the Danish land troops from the invasion have actually attacked me yet (and quite possibly never will).
And I agree to that trading requirement. It would be smartest to start with you, but I already told Role that I was starting with him due to his support of the Danes.

Yeah, its pretty much free for all mode right now. That said, a game where we counter invasion the Danish empire would be pretty damn cool.

I'd have to expand the map for Denmark etc. but it could definitely be done. What kind of resource/city/army level should the Danes be pitched at?

(Also as all have updated, will update in just a moment.)

I think it would be much cooler if it was a separate game, and you gave each player large starting forces in order to invade the Danelands so that everyone would be able to start off on equal footing.

Spoiler: 887 AD (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

887 was a year of death. The great fleets of the Danes and Irish finally clashed and in the cataclysmic battle that ensued the Irish, with limited casualties, were victorious.

In Wales, the Amddiffynwyr y Famwlad applied brutal overkill to crush the Holyhead raiders who gave only a handful of heads to place on the walls of Wrexham. The question now would be whether they'd make it back into the city before the South-West Horde snatched it like Lampeter the year before. Before he could march on Haverfordwest, the heir-apparent Elisedd ap Cyngen himself was brutally cut down. In the chaos, the Mercians looked set to retake Birmingham and Shrewsbury, but would they be able to hold them?

The real victory for the Danes was in the far north. In moving to defend their catapult unit, Slowband Snoozelaw (containing the only remnants of the earlier invasive waves) marched on the hills above Conniston. There they surprised the Pictish King himself! King Causantin Mac Fergusa II roared in fury when he saw his old foe, the ancient Theorl Slizard. Slizard tried to cut the King down but was repelled by the horsed men. Indeed, it was the bondsman Jucci the Finn that drew the killing blow on the long-lived king. Causantin's Crossbow Dragoons swiftly revenged themselves on Jucci but their cause was doomed. The best of the Michael and Dunbroch families fell. The heroic dragoons were the only ones left on those red hills.  Batrik and Sigmund Greymane took down four of the dragoons as Egil the Skaal stood and sang of the fight. The last charged for Ragnar Ragnarsson but the cunning Dane planted his spear into the ground, piercing the heart of the racing horse. In the same year, the horsebound Skyeband rode south towards Caern Michaels... at long last, could the north be in the clutches of the black-flagged invaders?

Ah I see 1037 now. Sure, I'll amend the upload with the trade. In future, put it in your spoiler.

Edit. OK. Trade is successful.

To hell with this either way. This part of the game simply isn't going to end unless I accept your stupid coinflip. I'm tired of losing men to dumb luck rather than legitimate strategy. If I lose this next turn I'll be out of the game. "Interesting threat" indeed.
